What Our Users Reviewed
TRC Plant & Equipment is a well-established and reputable company that my business has trusted for decades. However, there are fraudsters pretending to be TRC in association with a demolition contractor in Adelaide, who have stolen two excavators from a hire equipment company. They are misusing TRC's name on online marketplaces which is deeply concerning.
A caller identified themselves as Damien and provided a legitimate ABN (Australian Business Number) along with what appeared to be legitimate invoices and even a product video tour. I later realized this was a scam, so please be cautious when dealing with sellers on Facebook Marketplace.
I found an excavator for sale on Marketplace and contacted the seller through various channels, including email and phone. Although the business is located in South Australia and the ABN and website checked out, I was alarmed to discover that their bank's BSB is from Victoria, and the registered address is in a rural area. Local police have no record of this company, raising suspicions about its legitimacy.
Had a missed call- did not leave a message.
I phoned back to be told it was the Australian tax office and could I confirm my first and last name.
I responded with I don't give out my personal details you should have that already- the line then went dead...
