Scammers: Scam text from Child "Hi Mum I dropped my phone in the toilet and this is my new number...."
They texted my mum and pretended to be my brother stating that he had dropped his phone in the toilet and that the number he was texting from was a temporary number until he could get a new one. It was amazingly convincing but didn't get to the point of asking for money or personal details. We only realised that it was fake when my brother denied having sent those texts at all. Since she responded and conversed with this person before we discovered it was fake, are her details and phone safe or have they been compromised? We were not sent any links and did not click on anything that diverted to a website.
