0464 656 323 (0464656323): Contributor reports automated robocall impersonating private health insurer, followed by coordinated call from New Zealand claiming unauthorised debit card charges.

Robocall Impersonation Reports for 0464 656 323

One contributor has reported receiving a coordinated scam attempt involving 0464 656 323 (also written as 0464656323). The call began with an automated message claiming an issue with the recipient's private health insurance, followed by a live caller impersonating a representative from the health provider. When the contributor questioned who had called, the operator disconnected immediately.

The suspicious pattern deepened when, shortly after the call from 0464 656 323, the contributor received a second call from a New Zealand number (+64 274 136 455) claiming to be from their bank, alleging an unauthorised debit card transaction of $994 for gift cards. The contributor suspects both calls were part of a coordinated scam operation.

What Callers from 0464 656 323 Said

The automated message reported for 0464 656 323 used a generic health insurance alert, triggering a menu prompt to select language. When the contributor pressed 1 for English, a live operator with an Indian accent answered. The caller did not identify themselves or their organisation by name, and immediately disconnected when questioned about the nature of the call.

This pattern is typical of scammers using robocalls to initiate contact, then transferring to live operators who attempt to extract personal or financial information. The lack of proper identification and immediate hang-up when challenged suggest the caller knew the call was fraudulent and was testing the recipient's responsiveness before the coordinated follow-up call.

Report Patterns and Timing

The report indicates the calls from 0464 656 323 occurred during daytime hours, with the follow-up New Zealand call arriving immediately after the first disconnection. This rapid succession suggests a coordinated operation designed to capitalise on the recipient's confusion and heightened concern about their accounts.

The use of a Telstra mobile number (0464 656 323) combined with an offshore follow-up call is a red flag for scam networks that spoof domestic numbers to appear legitimate while orchestrating attacks across multiple jurisdictions.

Scammer.

Then straight after, I got a call from new zealand from +64274136455 saying they were from my bank and $994 had been spent on my debit car for gift cards. Obviously working together.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why did the caller from 0464 656 323 hang up when questioned?

Scammers using 0464 656 323 often disconnect immediately when challenged because they rely on victim confusion and fear to succeed. Once you show awareness that the call is suspicious, they abandon that attempt and move to the next target. This is a common tactic in coordinated scams where the initial robocall from 0464 656 323 is just the first stage of the attack.

How do scammers coordinate calls from 0464 656 323 and offshore numbers?

Scam networks operate across multiple countries with shared contact lists and shifting caller IDs. The robocall from 0464 656 323 was used to identify active numbers and test responsiveness, while the follow-up call from a New Zealand number represented the actual fraud attempt. By using domestic numbers like 0464 656 323 first, scammers bypass initial suspicion before the offshore caller makes financial claims.

Is 0464 656 323 actually my health provider calling?

No. Legitimate health insurers will not call unprompted to claim an account issue, request personal details over the phone, or use robocalls with language selection menus. If you're concerned about your health insurance, hang up and contact your provider directly using the phone number on your membership card or their official website, not a number from the incoming call.

What should I do if I already provided information to a caller from 0464 656 323?

If you shared any personal details, bank account information, or card numbers with someone claiming to call from your health provider or bank: Contact your bank and health insurer immediately using verified contact numbers from your statements or their websites to report the incident, monitor your accounts closely for unauthorised transactions, and report the scam to Scamwatch (scamwatch.gov.au) and ACMA (acma.gov.au) with details about 0464 656 323.

Why do scammers claim there's an issue with my private health insurance?

Health insurance is a common target because most Australians have coverage and can be pressured into 'verifying' account details to resolve an apparent problem. The robocall message from 0464 656 323 claiming a health insurance issue is designed to create urgency and compliance before handing you to a live scammer who collects personal or financial information.

How can I block 0464 656 323 and similar robocall numbers?

On most Australian phones, you can block 0464 656 323 by opening the call history, selecting the number, and choosing 'Block Contact' or 'Block Caller'. Enable 'Filter Unknown Senders' (iPhone) or 'Spam Protection' (Android) to reduce robocalls. Report the number to ACMA at acma.gov.au so they can investigate the source of robocalls from 0464 656 323 and similar numbers used in coordinated scams.
