It's very easy to get the last 4 digits of your CC. I suspect you're part of the scam.

You should be querying a lot more information, such as the branch you opened the account with, transactional information etc. etc.

Only EVER call the number provided on the banking website.

I got one from BankWest and it was legitimate, my credit card had been compromised. I did not call this number, instead (as you should always do), I called the BankWest number on their web site and asked them. The tell that it was probably legitimate is that it did have the correct last four digits of my CC number. However, as above, you should always ignore any number you are given over the phone or via SMS and instead look the number up yourself on the company web site.

Got a text message saying it was from Bankwest and that my credit card had been compromised.

They quoted the correct last 4 numbers of my Bankwest card.

The message went on to say that Bankwest had blocked the card and they would issue a new card by "7am" the following morning.

The message ended with, "For queries ring 1300 550 914".

For a start.1300 550 914 is not the official Bankwest customer service number.

For seconds, "7am" is the incorrect way of writing "7:00AM", and shows the message is written by someone who doesn't know the official, correct method of writing times - as it would appear in official notices.

For thirds, Bankwest do not send out text messages warning that your card has been compromised. They call and ask you about specific purchase amounts on your card that they suspect may be fraud.

The highlighted 1300 550 914 number only connects you to the scammers, who will then rip you off like the thieving, low-life cockroach scumbags that they are.
