The phone number 1300 152 302 / 00152302 has been reported widely as a scam number, with users claiming it is associated with a fraudulent attempt to impersonate the National Australia Bank (NAB). Several individuals have received texts stating that their accounts may have been compromised or that they had been pre-approved for a loan they did not apply for.

User Reports: A Common Thread

Many have reported receiving unsolicited messages that claim to be from NAB, urging them to call 1300 152 302 / 00152302 if they did not attempt to access their banking details or apply for a loan. However, no one seems to have any legitimate connections to NAB or found any cause for such alerts, leading to grave concerns regarding the authenticity of these communications.

How the Scam Works

The scam is primarily executed through text messages that create a sense of alarm. Recipients are told to call the number if they recognize certain actions that supposedly took place on their accounts. A typical text might state that a login attempt was made from a new device, or that a pre-approval for a loan is in order. These tactics are designed to extract sensitive banking details from unsuspecting victims.

Identifying the Red Flags

  • Unsolicited Texts: If you did not apply for banking services, be cautious of texts requesting you to verify your information.
  • Request for Personal Clearly Personal Information: Any reputable bank will not ask for sensitive information like card numbers over a phone call.
  • Non-Official Communication Channels: Legitimate banks typically do not coax customers through texts for urgent matters regarding account security.

What to Do if You Receive a Call

If you receive a call from 1300 152 302 / 00152302 or get a text message that prompts you to call it, it is essential to stay vigilant:

  • Do Not Engage: Avoid calling the number back or providing any personal information if you receive a text or call claiming to be from NAB.
  • Verify Through Official Channels: If you have concerns about your account, contact NAB through their official customer service line or app directly.
  • Report the Scam: Notify the appropriate authorities, such as Scamsmart or your local consumer protection agency, about the scam attempt.

In conclusion, 1300 152 302 / 00152302 is clearly a scam, and understanding the implications of such scams can help protect your personal and financial information. Exercise caution with any unsolicited communication, and remember, legitimate banks like NAB will always prioritise your security through official channels.

Definitely a Scam number. Proports to be from NAB Fraud and advises you that someone has attempted to access your account from a new device. Recommends you call this number if it was not you. I called.!.

They requested name and standard confirmation - claimed to have received many calls since data breach. Asked me to log into my account so that they could confirm transactions - and had me confirm balance. They then asked me to quote card number to them - this is when I twigged it was a scam.

This is a very very good one. Indian call centre very loud in background!!

A call was received claiming to be from the NAB (National Australia Bank) fraud hotline, but I suspect that this is not a legitimate call.
