I have ia call yesterday at 3 pm and he knows my name and Suriname. How the f@@@@ he knows. What I know what ever provider company you are land phone or mobile all those call pass from Telstra first after that is directing to the provider you are. So it's easy Telstra to locate them.

I wrote a review earlier of my experience from this guy posing to be from “Star Finance” and looked up their website.

The website seems to be a professional looking one, so I called the number on their website 0433 145 980.

It rang out the first time.

Then I rang back and got a noisy call centre background noise.

A male answered and I said “hi” and he hung up on me.

Now this makes me further question the legitimacy.

Aggressive male claims he spoke to me on 12th April about home loan refinancing. I asked where he was calling from and he said Star Finance. I do not recall speaking to anyone from this company and told him this. Male then became furthermore aggressive. I said I was not interested but he spoke over me. He called me a liar when I said I didn’t ask for a call back. I again asked where he called from (so I could check if it was a legit call - but definitely knew I had never spoken to him) and he said Star Finance. I then hung up and googled Star Finance and they appear to be a legit company located in Victoria (I’m not from Victoria), so I called the number on their website and I got a voicemail message which did not mention the company name or any other name just “please leave a message”

I just received a call from “Sam”

Said we spoke on 12th January and I requested a call back regarding refinancing. I have never requested a call back from anyone regarding refinancing and told him this. The male then insinuated I did and went on to some spiel about how he could offer lower % rates on my current home loan. If I accepted his offer, he would give me a $2,000 cash bonus. I told him I was not interested and in fact do not have a home loan. He the again tried to gaslight me and said we spoke on 12th January and I was apparently extremely interested. I again told him I had never spoken to him before and decided to just hang up and block this number.

This guy just called me and was very abrupt. Claimed to be from Star Finance and said we spoke a few months ago about refinancing. I’ve never heard of Star Finance and I certainly did NOT speak to this guy. I said to him we didn’t speak and he got extremely aggressive and said I am obviously forgetful as I requested he call me back today. I know I didn’t speak to him when he said we did (he reiterated a date of when I supposedly spoke to him - impossible as I was overseas at this time and did not take any calls from finance companies whilst holidaying). He claimed I was forgetful and a liar. I told him I didn’t wish to entertain him further and was going to terminate the call when he started yelling at me calling me a f*king asshole. Needless to say I blocked number and urge anyone who receives a call from this number to try and avoid speaking to this guy.

Star Finance or Star Finance Group is legitimate. The company is headquartered in Williams Landing, Victoria 3027 but 0485 993 897 not the mobile number listed on their website. Could be an agent but the caller's behaviour brings that suggestion into question. Might be wise to call the number on the website to verify this mobile number before engaging with it.

I also received a call from this number. The male who called me was very difficult to understand. I believe he said his name was Sam and he was calling from star finance. He had a very muddled accent, possibly Indian or African.

The male claimed that we spoke on 12 April of this year in regards to refinancing my home loan. I told him I did not believe this to be true as I did not speak to anyone from star finance and I have not spoken to anyone in regards to refinancing my home loan..

The male continued to speak over me saying I was very forgetful and told me if I spoke to him about refinancing my home loan he would give me $2000 in cash.

I tried to explain to the mail that I would remember if I spoke to someone in regards to refinancing my home loan as I do not have a home loan and own my home outright. The male insinuated that I was a liar about not having a mortgage on my home to which I replied not everybody has a home loan the mail then continued to call me a liar and then started screaming obscenities at me calling me a f*king arsehole and told me to try and refresh my memory back to 12 April. I said I clearly remember 12 April as I was in hospital at this time and I did not have my phone with me. It was switched off and I did not speak to him on 12 April of this year I then hung up on the mail and blocked their number.

WARNING - SCAM ALERT.

Very aggressive male called me from (alleged) “Star Finance”. Think he had African or Indian accent. Claims he spoke to me at length on 12th January about refinancing and I had requested a call back in early July. I told him this was not true. He said “well you obviously forgot”. I told him I did not forget as I have not spoken to anyone about refinancing. He basically started screaming at me, calling me a liar and screaming obscenities at me. I then hung up and blocked.

Male claimed to be Sam from Star Finance as a follow up call from 12th January regarding interest on my home load repayments. Said he could offer ms a $2,000 cash bonus if I switched to Star Finance.

I said I haven’t spoken to anyone from Star Finance. He told me I was a liar. I said if I had a call about my home loan back in January, I would recall as I paid off my mortgage back in 1997.

Thinking this would be the end of the call, he was quite persistent and started to be abusive. He said “surely you must be paying off something that I can refinance”

I said I was not interested and hung up. Before I had a chance to block the number, he called back and started a tirade of abuse. Again hung up on him and blocked number.

🚨🚨🚨 scammers 🚨🚨🚨

Couldn’t work out the accent of the caller, but was male. He said “hello Mr Edgar how are you?”

Firstly “Mr Edgar” is NOT my name.

Secondly, I am female.

I said “I think you have the wrong number”

He said “no, this is Max from Star Finance, we spoke recently and you asked me to call you back today Mr Edgar”

I said “again, I think you have the wrong number - I’m female and I’m not Mr Edgar”

He said “well since I have you, I want to talk home loans with you. Home much do you owe on your mortgage?”

I said “that’s really none of your business”

He then started to get verbally aggressive and abusive. It was here that I hung up and blocked.

Male caller with hard to understand accent. I had to ask several times before I realised he said he was calling from “Star Finance”

Male claimed I had requested a call back (apparently from 3 months ago). Told him I did not ever make this request. He said he spoke to me 3 months ago when I was apparently looking to refinance my home loan (which is 100% NOT the case). He said “maybe you are forgetful - now listen to what I have to say” in a very aggressive manner.

I just hung up on him and blocked the number.

Male with hard to understand accent wanting to know which financial institution I have my mortgage with.

Said I live in a tent ⛺️

He told me to f@ck off.

🚨🚨 SCAMMER 🚨🚨

Male with African accent called “Asad” claiming to be from “Star Finance” said he was calling as a follow up call he allegedly made to me on 12th April to refinance my home loan.

I tried to advise I was not interested, however he spoke over me asking me for my current payments and where they were coming from.

Told him again I wasn’t interested.

He then said “you told me on 12/04 you asked me to call you back today and you would supply me with these details so I can get you a better deal”

I said I don’t recall speaking with you and he then got aggressive and said you asked me to call and you promised to have your details ready for me.

I then said “I find that complete bullsh! T as I have owned my home outright for over 20 years”

He then yelled at me again saying “you promised me”

I then hung up and blocked.
