Disturbed that this number has been used frequently since 2022 for scams, trying to rip off Australians, and still no government intervention or known plans to stop it being used.

Received texts with PayPal authentication codes but not on PayPal, number claims to be legit but looks like scammers

I had a text saying PayPal: We completed your refund of........ It was a legitimate text nothing required to click on. I logged on my PayPal independently from a computer and saw it was a small refund from a company I recently purchased from (assume that they were out of one item). Shortly after, the PayPal notification also came through to my email about the refund and also one from the company itself. So for me at least this was accurate number and not a scam.

This is definitely a legitimate PayPal number, the one that sends verification codes to let you log into your account, at least in Australia. I had previously blocked it thinking it was a scam, then spent frustrating weeks NOT getting verification codes they'd sent me and unable to log into my account.

I made a purchase from eBay australia today 19-11-2021 (15:00), I tried to pay through PayPal, log in PayPal australia, the security code somehow was sent by this number - 61485872975, I entered the six digital code in order log in my PayPal account, I started to suspect this was a scam call because people don't see the actually number from PayPal, I then pressed the cancel button on screen in order to stop logging in, I then logged in PayPal in a new tab of the browser, it sent me another six digital code, but this time I can only see the sms was from PayPal, not a mobile number.
