Why do call centres use mobile numbers like 0485 842 092?
Scammers and illegitimate call centre operators use mobile numbers like 0485842092 because they are cheaper, easier to obtain, and harder to trace than business landlines. Legitimate companies typically use dedicated business numbers that display their official name on caller ID. Mobile numbers from services like Pivotel can be harder to track, making them attractive to operators running fraudulent campaigns.
Should I answer calls from 0485 842 092?

The contributor who answered this call reported it as a suspicious call centre scam, suggesting engagement increases your risk. If the caller has a legitimate reason to reach you, they can leave a message on 0485842092 for you to call back.
What information should I never give to callers from 0485 842 092?
Never share your full name, address, date of birth, bank account details, credit card numbers, passwords, PIN codes, or driver's license information with unsolicited callers from 0485 842 092 or any unknown number. Legitimate organisations you already do business with will never ask for sensitive information via cold calls.
How do I block 0485 842 092 on my phone?
On most Australian mobile phones, you can block 0485842092 by opening the call in your call log, tapping the number, and selecting "Block Contact" or "Add to Reject List". For iPhone, use the block button in the Phone app. For Android, use your Messages or Phone app's block function. This prevents 0485 842 092 from reaching you in future.
Is Pivotel Satellite Pty Limited a real company?
Pivotel Satellite Pty Limited is a registered Australian satellite communications provider. However, a number allocated by them does not guarantee the caller's legitimacy. Scammers can use services provided by legitimate telcos. The fact that 0485 842 092 is flagged as a suspicious call centre operation by a contributor suggests it's being misused, regardless of the service provider.
