Personal Information Request Report for 0482 093 950
A contributor has flagged a suspicious call from 0482 093 950 (also written as 0482093950) involving an unsolicited request for personal information. The caller referenced a filter change for an address the recipient does not reside at, raising immediate red flags about potential fraud or data misuse.
What makes this report particularly concerning is that the caller from 0482093950 already knew the contributor's first name before the call, suggesting they had obtained personal information from another source. This type of pre-call research is a common tactic used in social engineering scams to build false credibility and manipulate victims into sharing additional details.
What the Caller from 0482 093 950 Claimed
According to the report, the caller contacted the contributor about arranging a filter change. However, the address mentioned during the call from 0482 093 950 was not the contributor's current residence, which immediately triggered suspicion. The fact that the caller possessed the contributor's first name before initiating contact suggests they were working from a database or list of personal information.
This combination - knowing a name but having incorrect address details - is characteristic of data broker misuse or contact lists purchased from compromised sources. Callers using this approach typically try to confirm or extract additional personal information under the guise of providing a service.
Why This Pattern Matters
When someone from 0482093950 or any unknown number calls with personal information they shouldn't have, it indicates one of several possibilities: your contact details have been compromised in a data breach, your information is being used for social engineering purposes, or the caller is attempting to verify personal data for identity theft.
The Optus mobile network origin of 0482 093 950 makes this particularly notable, as scammers frequently use legitimate Australian mobile numbers to appear trustworthy. The fact that the caller already possessed a name creates false familiarity designed to lower your guard.

WRITE A REVIEWFrequently Asked Questions
Why is it concerning that the caller from 0482 093 950 already knew my name?
When someone from 0482093950 knows your personal information before you've provided it, it indicates they obtained your details from an external source - possibly a data breach, purchased contact list, or compromised database. This is a social engineering tactic designed to build false trust. Legitimate service providers typically don't call with this level of pre-existing personal knowledge.
Should I confirm my address if 0482 093 950 calls about a service?
No. If 0482093950 calls about a service you didn't request, do not confirm, deny, or correct any address or personal details they mention. Instead, hang up and independently verify the service claim by calling the official provider using a number from their legitimate website.
What does a personal information request scam typically lead to?
Callers from numbers like 0482 093 950 who request personal information are often gathering data for identity theft, account takeover, or further targeted scams. Each confirmed detail makes you more vulnerable. Never engage with these requests - even partial confirmations can be used against you.
Is 0482 093 950 a real Optus number I can trust?
0482093950 is registered as an Optus mobile number, but scammers regularly use legitimate Australian mobile numbers to appear credible. A real mobile number does not guarantee the caller is legitimate. Always verify any service claim independently by calling the official provider directly.
What should I do if I accidentally gave information to 0482 093 950?
Monitor your accounts for unauthorised activity. If you provided sensitive information like bank details, passwords, or identity information, contact your bank and relevant service providers immediately. Consider placing a fraud alert with your credit reporting agency. Report the call from 0482 093 950 to ACMA and Scamwatch.
Can I block 0482 093 950 on my phone?
Yes. Most Australian phones allow you to block specific numbers. In your contacts or recent calls, select 0482093950, choose block or spam options, and confirm. You can also report the number as spam while blocking it. This prevents further contact from 0482 093 950.
