I call this scam because of the following:
1. Caller knows your name so they got your number from somewhere.
2. Apart from some civil chat, it follows a pattern something like -
INTRO - about Australian government solar rebates etc.
CALLER: "You spoke to one of my colleagues a few weeks ago...." (some song and dance story about solar and some organisation dealing with solar panels)
ME: Sorry you are wrong. I told your "colleague" I live in apartments so I cannot simply install solar panels anytime.
CALLER: "Sorry sir. I will remove your number from our calling list. You will not receive any more calls from our organisation"...
Here is the kicker - when you get 3 phone calls with the same messaging and almost 100% identical conversation, with almost 100% identical caller conversations and messaging AND you can hear some conversations going on in the background so suspiciously like a call centre, it sounds like a scam - someone is reading from a script. I have received calls from 0480837525,0480837670 and another number I can't remember. Annoying when you are expecting important calls also.
