Prize Scam Reports for 04 8003 9199

Six contributors have flagged calls from 04 8003 9199 (also written as 0480039199) for suspicious prize-related activity and persistent evasion. The clearest pattern involves callers claiming the recipient entered a home owners survey and could win $10,000, combined with requests for personal information and reluctance to provide legitimate business details when challenged.

What distinguishes reports about 0480039199 is the caller's prior knowledge of the recipient's name and the coordinated response when called back. One contributor described calling the number back after an initial call and having a woman answer already knowing who was calling, despite the original caller being male. Both parties on the line knew the recipient's name, yet neither could adequately explain how they obtained the contact details.

What Callers from 04 8003 9199 Say

The primary script reported involves a male caller with an Australian accent claiming affiliation with a home owners affiliate program. The caller references an alleged survey entry from several years prior (one contributor mentioned around five years) and presents the $10,000 prize as a potential win conditional on further conversation.

When recipients request specific details about the survey, company name, or how they can verify the legitimacy of the offer, callers from 04 8003 9199 demonstrate evasive behaviour. One contributor noted the caller "did his best to dance around" providing details. Another contributor reported that when they insisted on the caller's company details and offered to call back to verify, the caller hung up immediately.

Contributors who attempted to contact 0480039199 directly report being hung up on repeatedly without greeting or explanation. One contributor drove to a public phone booth and made multiple call attempts to verify the number's legitimacy, only to encounter disconnection each time.

Personal Information Requests and Caller Persistence

Two reports specifically mention pressure to provide personal information. When recipients of calls from 04 8003 9199 pushed back on these requests or asked clarifying questions, callers became "very persistent" according to one contributor. The combination of already knowing the recipient's name, refusing to disclose company details, and requesting further personal information forms a clear scam pattern.

One contributor stated they "believe to my core that this number is scammers" after this interaction. The female responder's inability to explain how the details were obtained, despite claiming a five-year-old survey entry, raised immediate red flags for the recipient.

Report Patterns and Service Provider Details

The number 04 8003 9199 is provisioned through Pivotel Satellite, a satellite communications provider, which explains some contributors' observations about call quality and the number's technical behaviour. One contributor explicitly referenced "Scammers by pivotel" in their report.

Multiple reports describe the number as not responsive to legitimate callbacks. One contributor reported "tried calling back but number is out of service." This inconsistency-incoming calls from 0480039199 but inability to verify the number on return calls-is a strong indicator of spoofed or proxy calling infrastructure.

What to Do If You Receive a Call from 04 8003 9199

If 04 8003 9199 calls you:

  • Do not: Engage with prize or survey claims, provide personal information, or return the call to verify the caller's identity
  • Do: Let the call go to voicemail, block the number immediately, and hang up if you answer unexpectedly
  • Do: Verify any legitimate prize or survey claims directly by contacting the supposed organisation using a phone number from their official website, never using a number the caller provides
  • Do not: Feel obligated to listen to the full pitch or provide reasons for your scepticism - hang up and block

If the caller presses you for information or becomes evasive when you ask for verification details, this is a clear sign to end the call immediately. Contributors who engaged further reported only escalating pressure and evasion.

Got a random call from a Aussie sounding guy with simple speaking skills on 0480039199 number and from some home owners affiliate that I can't remember now, he claimed that he was calling me because I had entered into a home owners survey (some time ago) and I could be in the running to win $10,000.

I instantly wanted details which he did his best to dance around, I guess he noticed I wouldn't budge and he ended the call.

I gave it around 2 minutes and called bach and a woman answered my call knowing it was me, both the man and woman knew my name which is terrifying. The woman also wasn't adequately able to disclose why or how she had my details but said that I had entered said survey possibly 5 years prior.

I ended the call and drove to a public phone booth and called the number several times to which was hund up on repeatedly without a single hello.

I believe to my core that this number is scammers.

These guys were very persistent when I called them out on what they were asking me about. They didn’t want to give me their company details or phone number and when I said I would call them right back to ensure I was talking to them they hung up on me. Block this number definitely a scam.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why did the caller from 04 8003 9199 already know my name when I called back?

This is a significant red flag. The caller likely obtained your details from a data list or database without legitimate consent. One contributor reported that when they called 0480039199 back after receiving an initial call, a woman answered already knowing who was calling. This suggests either the original call came with caller ID information, or they were working from a compiled list of names and numbers. Legitimate survey organisations do not typically operate this way - they can explain their data source immediately.

What should I do if I already gave information to someone calling from 04 8003 9199?

Contact your bank and relevant financial institutions immediately to alert them. If you provided credit card details, request a card replacement. Monitor your bank and credit reports for suspicious activity. Report the call to Scamwatch (scamwatch.gov.au), ACMA (acma.gov.au), and consider lodging a report with ReportCyber (cyber.gov.au) if identity theft is a concern. If calls from 0480039199 continue after you refuse to provide information, document the dates and times and provide them to ACMA.

Why does 04 8003 9199 hang up when called back?

One contributor tried calling 0480039199 back multiple times from a public phone booth and was hung up on repeatedly without any greeting. This behaviour suggests the number either uses proxy or spoofed calling infrastructure that is not set up to receive incoming calls, or the scam operation deliberately disconnects inbound calls to avoid verification attempts. This pattern of incoming calls working but return calls failing or receiving no answer is a strong indicator of fraudulent activity.

Is the $10,000 prize offer from 04 8003 9199 legitimate?

No. Contributors report that callers reference an alleged survey entry from several years ago (one mentioned around five years prior) to claim the recipient is in the running to win $10,000. When recipients asked for specific details about the survey, company name, or how to verify the prize, callers from 0480039199 became evasive and refused to provide their company details. One contributor stated that when they offered to call back to verify the caller's identity, the caller hung up immediately. Legitimate prize notifications are rare and typically come directly from the organisation, not from unsolicited calls.

What does Pivotel have to do with 04 8003 9199?

The number 0480039199 is provisioned through Pivotel Satellite, a satellite communications provider. One contributor specifically noted "Scammers by pivotel" in their report. This does not mean Pivotel itself is running the scam, but rather that the scam operation is using a Pivotel number. Report the number and provider details to ACMA (acma.gov.au) so they can investigate the provisioning and potentially take action against Pivotel's account for this activity.

Should I try to verify the caller by calling 04 8003 9199 back?

No. Multiple contributors have reported that return calls to 0480039199 either connect to people who hang up without speaking, or the number returns as out of service. One contributor reported "tried calling back but number is out of service." Attempting to verify by calling back only confirms to the scammer that your number is active and responsive. If you receive a call claiming a prize, verify the claim independently by contacting the alleged organisation using a phone number from their official website, never using contact information provided by the caller.
