    Call from an unknown number. I also have an app on my phone which will scan for suspect phone numbers, therefore I did not answer my phone. A check in here has revealed that it was wise not to accept the call. If you are not sure when to answer, get a screening app.

    Caller: Fraud.

    Scam or fraud phone call follow by a text message. I use an app called Hiya to screen my calls. If it comes up scam or fraud it shows the IP location of the caller!

    Caller pretending to be charity asking for money and credit card details IP picked up Bacchus Marsh area.

    I’m guessing idiots that are buying different mobile SIM card numbers from different outlets around the area and creating fake website links pretending to be charity to scam people for money and then placed the money different names they created into the trust fund account so authorities can’t find the money!!

    Do you not give them any money or your personal details or banking details they are local scams from country Victoria.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
