Community report for 0468 178 522 (0468178522): Aussie Assure scam using repeated missed calls and fake removal requests to lure callbacks.
Repeated Callback Lure Reports for 0468 178 522
One contributor has flagged 0468 178 522 (also written as 0468178522) for a callback lure scam operation posing as "Aussie Assure". The pattern involves multiple missed calls designed to provoke curiosity and encourage the recipient to call back. When contacted, a recording answers claiming to be from Aussie Assure and promises to call the person back at a later time.
The scam employs a deceptive removal mechanism: the recording instructs callers to email their number to opt out of future contact. The contributor reports following these instructions multiple times, yet 0468178522 continues calling despite explicit removal requests. This deliberate non-compliance with stated opt-out policies is a hallmark of predatory callback scams that rely on persistent contact to eventually reach vulnerable targets.
What Callers from 0468 178 522 Claim
The automated response from 0468 178 522 identifies itself as "Aussie Assure" and states it will attempt to contact the recipient again. The caller provides an email address for removal requests, framing this as a legitimate opt-out mechanism. However, the contributor's experience demonstrates this is a false promise - the removal process is either non-functional or deliberately ignored to continue pursuing the target through repeated contact attempts.
This tactic exploits natural human curiosity: most people become more likely to answer or return a call after receiving multiple missed attempts, especially when prompted by a professional-sounding recording suggesting important business. The callback lure succeeds because it triggers recipients to initiate contact voluntarily, shifting the interaction from incoming harassment to what appears as an outbound call from the recipient's perspective.
Report Patterns and Timing
The contributor received at least 3 missed calls from 0468 178 522 in a pattern designed to accumulate before the recipient took action. After the initial missed calls prompted a callback, the contributor discovered the removal request process and attempted it multiple times. Despite these efforts, 0468178522 continued the callback campaign, forcing the contributor to resort to blocking the number entirely.
The persistence of contact from 0468 178 522 despite explicit removal requests indicates this operation does not process opt-outs legitimately. This suggests the email removal process serves as a data validation tool - confirming active, reachable phone numbers for further targeting rather than actually removing them from call lists.
What to Do If You Receive a Call from 0468 178 522
If 0468 178 522 calls you:
- Do not: Call back missed calls from unknown numbers, respond to automated prompts, email your number for removal, or provide any personal information
- Do: Block 0468178522 immediately after the first or second missed call, let calls go to voicemail, and never initiate contact with the number
- Key point: The removal email process is a scam within the scam - sending your email address confirms your number is active and monitored
Why "Opt Out" Requests Are a Red Flag
Legitimate telemarketing or business operations comply with removal requests via the Australian Do Not Call Register. Any caller asking you to email your number for removal is either not a real business or deliberately circumventing proper channels. Sending email confirmation to 0468178522 or any unknown number validates your contact details and makes you a higher-priority target for further contact attempts.

What Our Users Reviewed
Had 3 missed calls from this number so called back. Got a recording to say that it was “Aussie Assure” and they would attempt to call me back again.
Thing is with this recording, they say if you wish to be removed from their call list, to email your number to them and they will not call again.
I have done this NUMEROUS times (eg have my number removed from “Aussie Assure” but they do not follow their own alleged policies by not calling after I have asked them to remove my number)
Another blocked number added to the ever growing list.

WRITE A REVIEWFrequently Asked Questions
What is the callback lure scam used by 0468 178 522?
The callback lure involves deliberate missed calls from 0468 178 522 designed to provoke curiosity. When you call back, an automated message from "Aussie Assure" answers and claims it will contact you later. This shifts the scammer's contact from incoming (which can be blocked) to outgoing (which you initiated), making it harder to avoid. The scam succeeds when you return the call voluntarily.
Why does 0468178522 keep calling after I asked to be removed?
The contributor's experience with 0468 178 522 shows that removal requests are ignored systematically. The email opt-out process from 0468178522 likely serves as a confirmation that your number is active and monitored, making you a higher-priority target rather than removing you. Legitimate businesses comply with removal via the Do Not Call Register; this number does not.
Is 'Aussie Assure' a real business?
The automated message from 0468 178 522 claims to be from "Aussie Assure", but the pattern of repeated calls and ignored removal requests indicates this is either a fake identity or a rogue operation not operating within legal compliance frameworks. No legitimate Australian business would persist in calling after multiple removal requests from 0468178522.
What should I do if I already emailed my number to 0468 178 522 for removal?
You have confirmed your number is active and monitored by this operation. Block 0468178522 immediately, report the number to ACMA and Scamwatch, and register with the Do Not Call Register. Do not respond to further contact from this number. If you provided additional personal information before recognising the scam, monitor your accounts for fraudulent activity.
How is 0468 178 522 different from regular telemarketing?
Legitimate telemarketing must comply with removal requests and the Do Not Call Register. The scam from 0468 178 522 deliberately ignores removal requests, uses missed calls to manipulate callback behaviour, and provides fake opt-out mechanisms. The repeated persistence of 0468178522 after explicit removal requests is the defining characteristic that distinguishes it as predatory scam activity.
Should I block 0468178522 or report it first?
Do both immediately. Block 0468 178 522 in your phone settings to stop receiving missed calls, then report to ACMA (acma.gov.au) and Scamwatch (scamwatch.gov.au). Your report about 0468178522 helps authorities track the operation and protect other Australians. Additional reports create a pattern that strengthens enforcement action against this number and the organisation behind it.
