    Claimed to be Aussie Broadband and wanted my full name and DOB. When I said I didn't know it read them and I meant giving it those details, she (woman with Aussie accent) stairs they'd email which I said was ok because I could check an email wasn't fake. No email every arrived. Thus assuming it's a scam and blocking number.

    The call was from Aussie Broadband support to confirm my internet and voice services were operating correctly after online help to set up my new Internet service. The online support I received was nothing less than exception.

    Answered the call because they called 5x in a row even after I declined the call. When I answered they started speaking in Chinese so I hung up and then they called me again straight away. I ended up having to block the number because they wouldn’t stop calling.

    A man called and spoke Mandarin directly to me. He knew my legal name, and after confirming it, he hung up the phone. The weird thing is, I never provided my personal details to this company.

    Had these people call me today pretending to be Vodafone, when they called the first time I picked up and soon realised that it was a scam call and then they proceeded to call me another 14 times they then stopped for about half a hour and then proceeded to call me another 10-15 times.

    Was looking up what National Broadband Network technology ran to our house and accidently clicked on their site. Have had repeated calls since. Never leave a message. No blocked.

    If they put the same effort into their support as they do their sign ups, they would have me as a customer. I was transferred to their tech support line and... "you are 84th in the queue". They are all National Broadband Network resellers, the only thing they provide is service, and having a queue 80+ deep shows they don't care about service.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
