Caller stated my vehicle had been involved in a drive off from a petrol station. Quoted my car rego and car type, knew my address and name. Said it was Oakley area in Melbourne. I was in Sydney but I have driven around that area. Texted me a link to click on. I googled the phone number and saw it was a scam.

I received a text message from this number, 0447 475 013, claiming to be from an individual named T. Anwyn, requesting evidence for the Victoria Police. The message included a suspicious link, which I chose not to click on. It also suggested contacting Torquay College in relation to youth crime. If the police truly needed evidence, they would reach out directly rather than using a text message. I recommend deleting any messages like this if you receive them.

The caller identified themselves as Jason O'Reilly from Queensland Police, claiming they needed evidence for an important case. This raised suspicion as it seemed too urgent and official.
