I got 2 verification code texts yesterday and have woken up to an email from “My Deal” saying my account was compromised and that my name, address email address and phone number have been compromised. The company is E-COM (AUS) PTY LTD 446 Collins st Melbourne. I may have signed up to this company a while ago but don’t remember.

"Your verification code is: xxxxxx" received at 3:31 am. Looks like a scam.

I received two 'verification codes' from this number today.14th October at 0745 AEDT and 0830 AEDT.

Me too, at like 5 am so I know for a fact it wasn't me.

I got 2 verification codes from this number, and I wasn't trying to log into anything. Very dodgy.

Yesterday I noticed I’d received 2 verification codes 3:53 am, I then received a phone call from 0438949702 at 1:27 pm saying they were checking on fraudulent activity on my account. They new the time and asked me if I knew a person in California using my account on eBay and Amazon. I then asked which account and they said my debit card I asked which bank they were with and they replied Bendigo; I don’t have any accounts with them so said no thanks and hung up. This scam of sending verification codes is the first step, don’t give any information! Not even confirming your name.

I got 3 verification texts codes from +61 447 372 742 in two minutes today. I haven’t logged onto any accounts when I got this message.

Got 4 verification codes in 3mins.

Received a verification code with no explanation.

Disregard.

Received 2 texts with a verification code, no link.

Had two verification codes in 2 minutes.

Got the same verification codes at 3 am.3 messages. Telstra customer not sure what the purpose is?? Testing the phone number? Accounts appear normal.

I'm also a Optus customer here. Received 2 verification text message within 10 minutes. Verification text message are often used as part of "Two Factors Authentication" to login securely to websites or services. Wouldn't be surprised if Optus data leaks/hackers are trying to login one of the many services Australian using and unable to because they don't have access to the random verification code we received.

I'm a Telstra customer and got this scam at 0440 and 0441. So not just Optus customers being attacked.

I have received three of these "verification codes" this morning.

I am an Optus customer which may not be relevant but given recent issues with them who knows.

Received "Your verification code is: xxxxxx" from this number at 3.14 am. Did not asked for a verification in the middle of the night when I was asleep. Checked all my accounts and cards looked ok. Checked here everybody else reported the same. It is an attempted fraud but how does it work. The other side is able to see if you have read the message and deduce that your number is active?

I have received two verification code messages just now. I am NOT an Optus customer. No doubt the number is spoofed and a scam trying to get access to something.

I also received a “verification code”. I am an Optus customer if that is relevant. This is kind of unsettling as I’m not clear on what type of scam this is or what they are trying to achieve. Thanks to other who have posted.

I received a test from this number with a verification code and was curious as to where it was from.

Obviously it's spam and I can ignore it.

I am not, nor have I ever been, an Optus customer... Seems like a lot of people are trying to link it to the Optus data breach... No discernible link as far as I'm concerned.

Random verification code comes through 1223 am. West Australia time. I didn't request any thing. Obviously it was a scam.

I received a text overnight from this number "Your verification code is:" and a six-digit number. I was a bit worried until I read the other posts on this site from others who received similar messages. Scammers are getting creative I guess...

Today around 8 AM, I received four verification codes sent to my phone within a short timeframe - two came one after the other, followed by another set of two a few minutes later. This seems suspicious and may indicate some kind of fraud attempt.

I received two unsolicited verification codes from this number without any prior request or reason, causing confusion and concern about my account security.

I received a verification code in the early hours of the morning that I wasn’t expecting. This is suspicious and may indicate an account compromise.

At 6:30 this morning, I received a text saying, "Your verification code is: 203935." This was suspicious since I wasn’t expecting any verification code. I could tell they were not smart scammers, so I blocked the number.

Left three messages at 1:50 am "Your verification code is: xxxxxx"

Guessing a scam of some sort.

Around 1 AM, I unexpectedly received two SMS verification codes, which I did not request. This is concerning.

Received 6 messages at 3.21 am "Your verification code is XXXXXX" (6 digit numbers) No hyperlink, checked credit card no activity?? Don't know what they are trying to achieve?

About 5 hours ago received "Your verification code is:" followed by a 6 digit text string which appears to be hyperlinked. This message was not intended for me and almost certainly smishing.

Reported to ACMA as spam.
