Definitely not a scam. Got the text message about a suspicious transaction. The last four digits of the card number were correct. I rang my bank and they confirmed the problem and the block on the card. If you get this message, ring your bank's card fraud number without delay.
I first thought this was a scam, then while considering to call St George bank, they called me. The transactions are being investigated, cards to be replaced, and our money refunded.

It's legit. Got a SMS to say block placed on card for transaction of $0.00. reply yes if genuine or reply no if fraud. I checked online banking and no alerts but there's a Facebook post on Westpac page that it could be legit as it's not asking to click on links. So replied no. Got a reply to say the block will remain and a fraud officer will call me in 60 minutes. I logged back online to temporarily block my card just in case and I saw the card in question has already been blocked. So it legit. Don't ignore it. Check with bank or if out of hours, temporarily block the card on internet banking.

Yes, it's legit. Got this EARLY in the morning as others have reported, so these transactions may be the one that "ping" the bank's fraud algorithms more often.
When the call came through from a Sydney number I was *not* asked *any* personal details, only if the transaction was legit (no) and that they would send me new cards in the mail to the address the bank already had., The card was shut down immediately.
If they had asked me to confirm any personal detail apart from my first name I would have said, "you're the bank, its on your computer, don't ask me".
This was a genuine alert from Westpac. I rang them on their 132032 number and they cancelled my card because it has been compromised. I checked my account online when I received the text alert and then I transferred money off the card. Transaction showed the hackers tried to take '$0.00' and Westpac explained that's how hackers test if your card is active or has a balance before accessing it for funds the next time. So now they're sending me a new card which will arrive within 5 days. Make sure to ring Westpac on 132 032 to sort it out.
I received the same text... Unfortunately it is legit. Just call your bank back in office hours or go online and put your credit/debit card on hold until you can sort it out.
Westpac fortunately picked up on the unusual transactions pretty quick cause they tried several times with increasing amounts. You’ll have to launch a case with the fraud dept but they’re pretty good at returning any unauthorised funds within a couple of weeks.

Yes my credit card was compromised. Had it blocked. Will be getting a new one. (Quite recently my credit card statement letter went missing. The crooks probably took it).
This ended up being a legitimate call. However, it is better to call your bank directly through their own phone number.
My bank blocked the transaction, but I could have lost money if I didn't follow up. Be careful.
Legit alert from St George. I thought it might have been dodgy and ignored it, went to withdraw cash from ATM and card was blocked. Good thing they allow careless withdrawals via the app!

Definitely legitimate. St. George card fraud department. After communication via phone call my card has been cancelled and new card to be issued.
It was a genuine alert in my case. I called Westpac right away and they blocked my card and replacing my card to the new one. So just called your bank to make sure.

So I responded no and they instantly blocked the card. I then called st George fraud line And Turns out because st George acted so quick it stopped the lil buggers spending another $270 at another food shop in America. This number is not a hoax. Respond quick to save ya money.

This is a genuine text message from Bank of Melbourne fraud department. My card was compromised. Their fraud page on their website says they will text customers about suspicious transactions. I called their fraud department instead of texting them back and they cancelled my card and organised replacement and funds to be returned.
