Identifying the Scam Behind 0406 990 037

If you've received a call from 0406 990 037 / 0406990037, it's crucial to take heed of the warning signs. Repeated user reports indicate that this number is part of a larger scheme aiming to deceive individuals under the guise of offering prizes and financial advice.

What the Callers Claim

The primary tactic employed by the callers involves congratulations for winning seemingly attractive prizes, such as an iPad or a Polaroid Android tablet, which supposedly comes from entering a competition or completing a survey. However, users have reported that the catch is always linked to discussions about mortgages or financial packages, which raises immediate suspicions.

Analysis of User Experiences

Several users have noted that the callers often lack specific details about the alleged survey they claim you’ve filled out. These accounts typically feature the offer of a prize being contingent upon financial conditions, such as having a home mortgage or equity in a property. When potential victims express disinterest or claim they do not meet these criteria, the offers quickly vanish, showcasing the insincerity behind these calls.

Spotting the Red Flags

  • Unsolicited calls claiming you’ve won a prize you don’t recall entering.
  • Pressure to schedule appointments usually involving discussions around personal finances.
  • Lack of verifiable information about the survey and the business behind the call.

Steps to Take

If you receive a call from 0406 990 037 / 0406990037, it is recommended to:

  • Politely refuse to engage with the caller about any financial consultation.
  • Do not share any personal information or confirm any financial details.
  • Consider reporting the number to the appropriate authorities to help protect others.
  • Utilise Reverseau for a quick Reverse Phone Lookup Australia to determine if other users have flagged the number as suspicious.

Call is from Brad @ Reventon Group. I think we signed up to a competition at Melbourne Home Show, which is how they got our details. They seem to sell properties and give financial advice. Decided not to take up the offer of a free samsung tablet, which meant they had to come to your house to offer tips on reducing debt or other financial advice.

Same comments as previous - random call saying I won an Android Polaroid Tablet. Caller was from IIG(?) - apparently some survey I filled out although I'm not sure when I did this survey!

They did have my details on file which was strange and it was something to do with the amount I had owning on my mortgage.

Sounds pretty dodgy.

Got a call saying I won a Polaroid Android from a comp I entered a few months earlier. But I was only eligible if I had a certain amount of equity in my house for a financial health pack to be sent which I didn't and I would get the prize in 6 months when they ring back to check. Sounds rather suspect to me.

Received an unsolicited call, saying I had won an Ipad. Apparently I had filled up a survey to win an iPad. The caller was trying to fix an appointment for paying off mortgage (which I didn't have) and reduce tax tax. I refused the appointment. Asked about the iPad that I had won, and he said it will be given only if we make an appointment. Don't think winning and iPad really exists.
