ATO scam! Watch out.
Had similar experience with them pretending to be ATO.
Can't Telstra just cancel these numbers?
Total scammers. They left a message saying there was a warrant for my arrest. I called them back stating I was a member of the police force and we were investigating their activities and they hung up.
This is scam for sure. Have rung every day pls delete.
Got a call from this number with an automated message saying I was being investigated for tax fraud that I should return the call for further information. Returned the call and got some guy with a really thick accent asking for my details and what message I had heard, I said he should know what message I had been given after all they called me. He promptly told me to give him my name or I would be in more trouble than I was currently. Realising it was a scam I told him my name was Mary Smith and I was a housewife who hadn't held a job outside of the house for 40years and got told I was wasting his time and he hung up.
SCAM, SCAM, SCAM! Hang up on these fools!
Message left on answering machine saying that account was in arrears and warrant would be issued, as letters about this had been returned. Strong American accent. Obvious scam.
Over the last week we have had calls from a private number leave a message on our phone for someone named Belinda to call back on 02 80144676 and quote a reference number. After 4 calls, we don't answer calls from private numbers just let them go to the answering machine, we got a recorded message this morning, or actually part of a recorded message, saying that as we hadn't responded to certified letters a warrant had been issued for, Belinda I guess, her arrest. Poor Belinda. Don't answer your phone, let all calls flow through to the answering machine.
Got a recorded message from this number. Claimed to be from tax office. Very Unlikely!! Didn't return their call. Blocked their number on my phone.
Yes, I missed a call, and returned it. A gentleman, with an Indian voice, said they were the Australian Taxation Office. I've spoken to the ATO previously and realised this wasn't true, so I hung up on him.
