Suspicious Banking Activity Reported for 02 7226 2853

Four contributors have flagged calls from 02 7226 2853 (also written as 0272262853) as suspicious or spam, with patterns suggesting potential banking impersonation and personal information harvesting. The most concerning reports involve callers claiming to represent NAB and requesting transaction details and email correspondence, allegedly for refund processing through Visa.

Multiple reports about 0272262853 describe callers speaking rapidly or in mixed languages (including Indian-accented English switching to another language), reading from scripts, and behaving unusually when questioned. One contributor noted the caller began speaking before they had fully answered, suggesting automated or pre-recorded initiation. The combination of banking claims, fast speech, script-like delivery, and requests for sensitive financial details raises significant red flags.

What Callers from 02 7226 2853 Claim and How They Behave

One contributor received a call from 02 7226 2853 where the caller claimed affiliation with NAB, though the contributor acknowledged being uncertain of the legitimacy and described the number as feeling dodgy. However, another report provides more detailed insight into the caller's tactics: the caller spoke extremely quickly, making comprehension difficult, and sent an email requesting transaction details and correspondence related to a card cancellation and refund claim through Visa.

The scripted nature of calls from 0272262853 is a recurring theme. One contributor described the caller reading out terms or scripted content in a mixture of English and another language, then laughing and ending the call abruptly when the conversation became unclear. This behaviour, combined with the caller already speaking when the recipient answered, suggests either automated technology or a coordinated script designed to confuse or test responsiveness.

Report Patterns and Contributor Experiences

The four reports for 02 7226 2853 span recent weeks, with the most detailed incidents occurring in mid-December 2025. One voicemail from 0272262853 was left but incomprehensible; when the contributor called back, no one answered. Two separate call-answered reports from December describe rapid, unclear speech and script-like delivery, while the most recent report from January describes the caller claiming NAB affiliation.

Contributors have noted specific concerns about the nature of these calls. One mentioned awareness of technology that can access phone content through incoming calls or text messages, raising concerns about why they were targeted. Another contributor's experience shows the caller had knowledge of their recent card cancellation and refund claim, suggesting possible access to customer service records or data breach involvement. The fast speech pattern appears deliberate, making it harder for contributors to process what is being asked or demanded.

Spoke very fast which made it hard to understand her but I picked up that she sent an email. Checked and the email is in response to a report I made when I cancelled my card to be issued a new one. Wanted details of the transaction and my emails when I tried sorting out with the company to send in to visa card for refund.

This number called me I did not speak when I answered. The lady was already speaking. I could not understand what she was saying? She was also speaking in Indian at some stages. But it sounded like she was reading out a script or some terms of something?? She then laughed and ended the call.

I am suspicious of this because.

I am aware of such technology that can access your phones entire content as long as you either open a text message or answer a phone call.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why would someone claiming to be from NAB call me from 02 7226 2853 asking for transaction details?

Legitimate banks like NAB never initiate contact requesting transaction details, refund information, or email correspondence. If NAB needs to contact you about a refund, they initiate it through secure channels you have already set up, not cold calls from 02 7226 2853 (0272262853). Contributors who received calls from this number report the caller requested details about a card cancellation and Visa refund, which is a common tactic to harvest information for fraud. Always hang up and call your bank directly using the number on your card.

What does it mean if the caller from 0272262853 speaks very fast and in mixed languages?

Fast speech combined with language-switching (as reported by contributors receiving calls from 02 7226 2853) is often a deliberate tactic to confuse you and prevent you from processing what information is being requested. This makes it harder to push back, ask questions, or realise you are being scammed. If 0272262853 calls and you cannot understand the caller, do not try to clarify or engage - simply hang up and block the number.

I missed a call from 02 7226 2853 and they left a voicemail I couldn't understand. Should I call back?

No. One contributor who called back 0272262853 after receiving an incomprehensible voicemail found no one answered. This is a common tactic - callers from 02 7226 2853 may leave confusing or unclear messages hoping you will call back out of curiosity or concern, confirming your number is active. If the message is unclear or you do not recognise the number, do not return the call. Block 0272262853 instead.

A caller from 02 7226 2853 knew details about my recent card cancellation. How did they get this information?

This is a serious concern reported by contributors who received calls from 0272262853. Callers obtaining personal financial information they should not have suggests either a data breach affecting customer service systems, internal staff involvement, or previous scam interactions that harvested your details. The possession of this information by 02 7226 2853 callers makes their requests for additional details (emails, transaction history) even more suspicious. Report this immediately to your bank, ACMA (acma.gov.au), and Scamwatch (scamwatch.gov.au).

Should I be concerned about the caller from 02 7226 2853 accessing my phone's content just by me answering?

One contributor expressed concern about technology that accesses phone content through incoming calls. While certain advanced vulnerabilities exist, the simple act of answering a call from 0272262853 does not automatically grant access to your phone. However, clicking links, downloading attachments, or providing information over the call are significant risks. The more pressing concern is that 02 7226 2853 callers are targeting you with specific information, suggesting data compromise. Secure your accounts by changing passwords, enabling multi-factor authentication, and reporting to relevant authorities.

What makes 02 7226 2853 different from a legitimate bank callback I was expecting?

If you were expecting a callback from NAB or another bank, verify the caller's identity independently before discussing anything. Ask for a reference number, then hang up and call your bank's official number (from your card or statement) to confirm that person exists and is authorised to discuss your account. Contributors who received calls from 0272262853 report the number felt dodgy despite claiming NAB affiliation, and the behaviour (rapid speech, script-reading, requests for emails) is inconsistent with legitimate banking contact. Always verify through official channels, not by continuing the original call.
