Got 2 calls yesterday, rang the number back out of idle curiousity as it was obviously a scam and they answered with Australian taxation office. I asked them to prove they were for real, insisted they were genuine, when asked again to provide proof hastily hung up on me.

They say they are from the ATO and you are wanted for Tax Fraud. When I rang this number on behalf of my mother, a foreign lady answered and said ATO and when I asked if they had been calling my mother she hung up.

Scam call don't bother giving them the time of day.

You could though keep them hanging on the line for a while with some excuse of another and let them rack up a phone bill.

Have had a heap, maybe 10 calls claiming that they are the ATO and its about serious tax fraud. Asked me to take out 10k cash or I would be arrested. Obvious scam and they are very rude and threatening. Would hate it to happen to an older person.

Just got two call on landline from this number saying that they were representing the ATO.... Said his name was David Miller... Indian/Asian accent - got aggressive when I asked for more info about the ATO office - where their office was located etc.... Be careful - they're chasing personal details etc.

I had message on my home phone giving this number to call back on regarding a potential arrest if I didn't call them back.

It's disgusting that people use dirty tactics like this to trick people and my aunt has already been conned by someone pretending to be from Telstra.

I still get calls from them about my 'Telstra Internet' which is funny because I use Optus Broadband haha...

Spread the word if you get these calls and messages.

Scam call, the usual Australian Taxation Office "call this number immediately or you will be arrested" scam.

Asian voice on call, Indian sounding voice answers when you call back (and offer a nice insult regarding parentage). Obvious scam - ATO's headquarters are in Melbourne, genuine calls would give an (03) prefix, not (02).

The scammers seem to have a block of NSW numbers starting with 02 6140 34XX (including 3468.3470, and 3472), and 02 6152 86XX (including 8629 and 8695) - they've been running this scam for at least a couple of months now.
