I got call from this number today. The guy seemed to be indian coz he has indian accent. He claimed to be from ATO and dtated that I awe ATO $5700. I was advised that nothing can be done as a warrant has already been issued against me and I would be taken to commonwealth court. The discussion went for 60 minutes. I was explaining myself that I never had debt to ATO. Consequently he said the only way to get rid of it is to pay the amount today over the phone. I said sorry, I can't trust you. If you are true send me invoices from ATO. Bloody scammer was very smart. I had believed him until he asked me to pay it over the phone.
Same stuff happened to me today we called back and asked for their address they hung up, you can go to ACORN to report scams online this is where the local police directed me. They knew my name and address tossers!
Had the same call regarding tax fraud went through to voice mail not bothered calling back.
Same scam still going on.
Why cant Telstra disconnect this number or just publish address so we can go around and discuss why scum shouldn't be allowed to use their fingers anymore to dial scamming calls.
I just received a voice message asking me to call 02 4407 0078 urgently as they had a tax avoidance case against me and I should call back or they would take legal action. This is a complete scam which is shameful.
Said they are from tax office claiming they will issue warrents..... Total SCAM.
Rang and told me they were from the Australian Tax Office. I had my answering machine on and picked up after about 5 words. I said hello but they just kept talking and didn't acknowledge me. Said I had a huge tax debt that had been referred to collections. I never got the chance to say anything. Then rang ATO and of course everything was fine. Horrible scammers. I am on disability and had a huge panic attack. So cruel!
Got a call from this number saying that I have a legal complaint for tax evasion. Didn't come from a government number and is clearly a scam! Definitely not returning it!
WARNING SCAM ALERT.
I have had three calls from this number 0244070078 all reporting to be from the Australian Taxation Dept, saying that there is pending legal action against me FOR TAX EVASION and that I need to call this number to sort it out. I have reported them to the Australian Taxation Office and they informed me that I was the third person today to report this number, one other being an aged pensioner. That is just the lowest of the low.
SCAM NUMBER, TOLD TO CALL TO CLAIM CHEQUE FOR $7500.89. DIDN'T CALL.
Same as above but sum was $7509 and to phone immediately 02 44070078 and give ref no of NS 145.
Received a call from mobile number 0427542636 where a woman with a Filipino accent said she was from the Federal Government. She said that I was owed some $7000 in overcharged bank fees. I strung her along and gave her false details and said that I would like to be paid by cheque. She then said I would have to call her supervisors, Mrs Maria Edwards or Mrs Angelina Cooper on 0244070078. Needless to say I didn't bother to call as it was such an obvious scam.
So to continue with the anatomy of the scam about the Federal Claims department has a lawyer who apparently wants to be paid in Itunes to the value of $250.00 Maria Edwards and Angelina Cooper expect once you have purchased the Itunes for the lawyer then one of these ladies upon hearing the receipt number will then send a cheque of $78.589.00 to my home they already have my street address and phone number.
Received a call saying the person was from the Australian Government and I was to receive a cheque for $7500.00. Gave me a reference number and told me to 'phone 0244070078. Obviously a scam of some sort so I did not call the number.
Scam Alert !, please be very wary with any calls, pretending to be any institution or other. Do not fall for these elaborate setups.
