I went to a legit restaurant webpage using my laptop and the webpage and a pop-up appeared saying it was from Microsoft and that my computer had been hacked and to ring 1800 886 492. I checked on my tablet for Microsoft's phone number, which was different, and I rang them. They said it is definitely not their number nor did they put the message up on my computer. I did not ring the number, but when I Googled it, other people did ring the number and they would be asked to type in certain commands, so it looks like they are trying to take over your computer. Do not ring that number. I did an update on my Microsoft Security Essentials (Anti-virus) and ran a full scan. Nothing showed up so I think I am safe. This happened 3 days ago and my computer seems fine. I used Task Manager to close the page down as when I clicked on the "x" it just re-popped up.
Had exactly the same problem with my laptop Amazon site and pop up message and buzzes... When I called the number they asked me to enter Ctrl and the microsoft sign and I stopped the guy before we went any further he wanted to connect to my computer to solve the problem. I smelt a rat and hang up.
Number need to be investigated and clarity given to the prone public. Possible criminal charge if found in breach of telecoms laws.

I had a webpage warning pop up on my computer screen telling me that there had been a security breach and my webpage been suspended due to a suspicious connection that tried to access email logon, banking and financial information.
I called "customer service" a number that was provided on the screen and I didn't feel comfortable with the phone call as I was asked for my phone number which wasn't necessary. The person on the other end of the line told me I was called Microsoft and that there were no other numbers for that service and no other staff that I could talk to not even a manager. The person hung up on me.
