This is still me - an update to the above. I contacted the real/genuine Telstra who advised that this message is indeed a scam. So block this caller.
I rec'd a text message supposedly from Telstra (I am not a Telstra customer). This text said my number was used by a former Telstra employee whose name & work email address were recently disclosed as part of a data breach by a third party supplier. They said that the data breach was from 2017. Now that last bit of information cannot be correct because I know that in 2017 the number belonged to an aged family member.
