Apparently I had downloaded some malware which led to seeing lots of pop ups (not just this one). And it had been going on for quite some time. I finally called the number and they were able to pin point the problem and provide me with better anti-virus software, that fixed the problem. No longer seeing the popups, and I'm a happy customer.

Also offered 1 yr of service in the event that the problem returns.

NOT NOT NOT A SCAM LIKE OTHERS SAID.

I AM VERY HAPPY WITH SERVICE I RECEIVED AND WOULD RECOMMEND TO MY OWN MOTHER IF SHE WERE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS.

I was on Gumtree yesterday in Sydney.

And a grey bx came over the top telling me I was an Optus customer and I had to phone a number to stop pop ups. There was no identification of who and what this number was attached to.

I could not close the box down. Very much a scam.

Had this number come up but it was for Optus not telstra. Definitely a scam I think.

AFter installing a third party program that would apparently open old Nokia phone backup files (nbuExplorer), I had several garish popups asking if I am a Telstra number, saying that I have popups enabled and that I should call Telstra on this number. There was also a page opened with a woman telling me that she would guide me through getting rid of unwanted software.

Difficult to get rid of the popup.

I suspect it came with YOURSEARCHING, something installed without an option when I downloadd nbuExplorer.

This number is a scam - I called them today as they advised my "firewall" was not working. After spending 1 1/2 hrs online with them it came time to buy a new "firewall" but I had to get more organised. In the meantime I contacted my IT person who has advised it is a scam. Just close computer down and DO NOT PROCEED WITH WHAT THEY ASK YOU TO BUY.
