While using Google search, received a message supposedly from Microsoft that if I did not ring 1800 817 803 - Microsoft support and click out that all information from my computer would be deleted so that it does not affect the running of the Microsoft network.
The people showed where there was supposedly 5 overseas IP addresses that was removing information from my computer and had been for quite sometime. Although my Norton antiviral software did not pick it up they stated that Norton did not cover IP address information.
They proceeded to bill me for $299.99 USD - and to clean my computer. The company name they used was TECHZONE USA and when I questioned whether they were affiliated with Microsoft they did not answer. They left the warning message up on my screen while they started to clean my computer.
Not long after they had started, I received a call from my brother who told me that it was a scam and I turned my computer off at the power point.
There was a lot of noise in the background of people in a call centre and they say that they are a legitimate company. They say to call them back on 1800 014 762.
