If so many folk know this to be a scam as I just found out when it appeared on my screen why don't the Telco's who facilitate the number, cancel it & report the users of this number to the police as it's fraudulent activity.
Same story as you guys. My computer started flashing and there was a voice saying that my computer was at risk. And this number to call. I called and I spoke to an Indian lady, saying that she was a technician from Windows security system. Lucky me I didn't gave my bank details to them. F*k them. Go to work honestly as I do every day.

I am an idiot. I called them up. Gave access to my pc. They asked me I should pay for a security defender. I said no. Then they said goodbye and hang up. Is my pc still at risk?
Same, an audible voice said that my computer was compromised and being hacked and to call the number 1800 764 708. I called and I spoke to a lady from India that said that she was a Microsoft Technician and I need to give her access to my computer. I said I don't know who you are and I cant verify her information. I said I needed to Google the number and when I did, it said to stay away. I told her this and she said that they write anything on the net and what do you want me to do. I said I can't trust her, hung up and rebooted the computer, then Found this site and posted this comment.
Number popped up on my computer saying my system was in danger of crashing from spyware please call Microsoft technicians on this number needless to say I didn't!!!
