Is this Spam by telstra 1800 050 022. To get you to connect to the National Broadband Network with Telstra. Telstra will remove the message for 30 days only. Wonder what the ACMA will say tomorrow ?
When all else failed, I rang the number and spoke to a very capable and courteous lady that explained that it is a message placed by National Broadband Network (government) on numbers that have not moved to National Broadband Network. When the massage finishes, the number dialed will go through and make the call. The message can be removed by ringing the 1800 number and requesting same. Could take 2-3 days. Good luck.
I have this on my phone and thought it sounded dodgy so I went to the Telstra shop and they said it is not a legitimate Telstra contact and not to ring the number but it is there EVERY time I use my landline.
Anon. above is perfectly correct. And the management of Telstra have ensured that staff in local stores now nothing of it. It is an utter outrage.
A post on another site has suggested that this approach by Telstra could be a)an invasion of privacy b)blackmail marketing and c) have emergency implications. But you can decide this for yourself. However, it is really annoying and typical of Telstra's aggressive marketing. It's a pity that the technology doesn't live up to the hype!

This message now stays on the phone until you upgrade from Copper Cable to the National Broadband Network network.
It's an Invasion of Privacy, Marketing Blackmail and an Emergency call big issue.
