Received the same as everyone above today in Caboolture, QLD. With my name hand written on it and a mobile number to call alongside the 1800 number and a quote case. Very concerning seeing as I have three children at home who often open the door to Neighbour’s. Luckily we did not answer.

Long green card found in my security door, one side black with green shield, the other green with text saying immediate action required and that I have to call this person asap.

I did call as I thought it might have had to do with a screen door replacement I've been waiting on. No answer, just a chance to leave voicemail which I did stating I had video footage of the bloke who called and am taking it to the Police.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is 1800 024 158 a legitimate business?

1800 024 158 is associated with Debt Managers (debtmanagers.com.au), which appears to operate as a legitimate debt collection business. However, community reports contain mixed experiences. Some contributors confirm door knockers from this number were pursuing genuine unpaid debts. Others report suspicious behaviour including door knockers with handwritten details, impersonation of collection activity on already-paid debts, and harassment tactics. Before paying anything to 1800024158, independently verify the debt with your original service provider.

Why do the door cards from 1800 024 158 have handwritten numbers?

Several contributors reported receiving green cards from 1800 024 158 with handwritten mobile numbers and names. This raises concerns about whether callers are impersonating legitimate debt collectors or using informal collection methods. One contributor noted the card had their name handwritten on it, suggesting personal information was used to target the address. Be cautious of cards with handwritten details mixed with official-looking formatting. Contact the original creditor directly using contact details from your own records.

What should I do if a door knocker visits claiming to represent 1800 024 158?

Do not open the door or provide information to any visitor claiming to represent 1800 024 158 unless you can verify their identity through official channels. Ask for official identification and credentials, and do not let them in. If you are concerned, tell them you will contact the organisation directly using contact details from your own records, then close the door. If the visitor becomes aggressive or threatening, contact local police. One contributor in our reports took this approach and reported feeling safer by not engaging.

I received a card from 1800 024 158 claiming urgent action is required. Should I call back?

Before calling 1800 024 158, independently verify the debt by contacting your original service provider (phone company, bank, retailer) directly. Check your payment history to confirm whether the debt is genuine and unpaid. Some contributors reported that debts claimed by door knockers from this number had already been paid. Do not call the handwritten mobile numbers sometimes included on cards. If you decide to call, use only the official 1800 024 158 number, not alternative contact details.

Can I report 1800 024 158 if I think I have been scammed?

Yes. If you believe 1800 024 158 has scammed you, impersonated a legitimate business, or harassed you, report to ACMA (acma.gov.au), Scamwatch (scamwatch.gov.au), or local police. Contributors reporting door knocker scams and impersonation of collection activity on paid debts have used these channels. You can also report your experience on Reverseau to help other Australians understand the patterns associated with 1800024158.

What is the difference between the reports saying 1800 024 158 is legitimate versus a scam?

Some contributors have confirmed that callers from 1800 024 158 genuinely represent Debt Managers and were pursuing real unpaid debts. However, other contributors report scam and impersonation tactics, including door knockers pursuing debts that have already been paid and using pressure tactics with handwritten cards stating 'urgent action required'. The split in reports suggests either variation in how the business operates in different regions, or that some callers may be impersonating the legitimate business. Always verify independently with the original creditor.
