I contacted the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) and can confirm this number is associated with a payment callback line from them.
ALl. I had this same call number and message and was given the same reference number posted here.
Took a call from an Indian voice wanting to speak with "Mr x" saying he was from the ATO and that the matter was important. Offered to not record the call and to personally read out the privacy statement. When I said this is highly unusual and how could I verify who he said he was, was told to ring 1300880217 back within 2 business days and gave ref number 1052075788617....... Scammers are getting more technical now clearly.
I received a call from that number today & they said they were from ATO & they wanted my personal information. I refused & said I would call them back. Instead I called the ATO on their advertised number 13 28 65 & asked about the call I had received. They said no attempt to contact me showed on my file, so not to call the number back.
I received the call today from blocked number to ring 1300 880217 to supply my daughter's TFN anf my TFN number regarding unpaid tax and also requested to give personal info as well. Also requested must submit info within two working days. Person who left the message was in indian accent.
Had a call from this number to our landline. The person claimed to be from the tax office. ???
