Received a text stating that it was PayPal.
Received SMS from a 04... Mobile number claiming that my PayPal account had successfully been registered with a device in California. I've registered enough devices to know I never recieve any SMS from PayPal about this activity. In addition, the phone number listed to call "support" was 1300 454 709, and a simple search found this page. Be alert folks... Never click or call a number/link listed in random SMS or emails... it's easy enough to log in to your account via entering the URL yourself manually and checking on your account. Scammers rely on your laziness to validate the claim yourself, MANUALLY, and hope you just click their links and you fall right into their hands. Protect yourself and do your due diligence -- protecting yourself is an active job -- if you choose to use technology the onus is on you to protect yourself. Happy Paypalling!:-)
Received scam text message stating that this number is PayPal.
I received a text message that appeared to be from Paypal, instructing me to contact a number via a provided link. I strongly believe this is a scam because the number does not belong to Paypal's Australian contact list. I have blocked the mobile sender and reported the incident to both Scamwatch and Paypal.
Scammer claiming to be from PayPal. They try to get you to install AnyDesk so that can control your computer.
