I believe this call was legitimate and definitely from Commonwealth Bank. I answered and hung up after they identified themselves as CBA. I later confirmed with CBA that they did use this number, reaching out about my everyday account being in arrears.

This call is definitely a scam! The Commonwealth Bank will never ask you to make a payment for an overdue account over the phone, as they do not have the authority to do so.
