Repeated Calling and Impersonation Reports for 03 9022 9289
Five contributors have reported unwanted contact from 03 9022 9289 (also written as 0390229289), with a pattern of repeated calls using different numbers within the same 039022 exchange. Three of these reports classify the activity as scam-related, citing caller impersonation and refusal to honour 'do not call' requests despite explicit instructions.
The most recent report from 0390229289 describes a caller claiming to represent a solar electrical system company, aggressively pushing to persuade the recipient into replacing their existing system. When the contributor firmly declined and requested no further contact, the same organisation called again from a different number (02 8395 7137) but switched their pitch to health insurance - a clear indication of coordinated dialling across multiple numbers to circumvent blocking.
What Callers from 03 9022 9289 Claim
Contributors report that callers from 03 9022 9289 initially identify themselves as solar system representatives, asking whether the recipient has an existing solar electrical system installed. The caller then pressures to learn the brand of the current system and attempts to convince the recipient to replace it.
In at least one case, when the contributor rejected the solar pitch and blocked the number, the same organisation called back from an alternative 039022 number but switched their entire sales angle to health insurance. This behaviour suggests the callers are part of a larger operation rotating through multiple phone numbers and product offerings within the same exchange to re-contact people who have already declined.
Multiple contributors note that callers ignore explicit requests not to contact them again, continuing to ring from different 039022 numbers despite being told 'NO' repeatedly.
Call Patterns and Timing
The most recent call from 03 9022 9289 occurred today (7 April 2026). Contributors report that callers persistently use different numbers within the 039022 range to avoid being blocked. One contributor documented calls from multiple 039022 numbers over an extended period, with no gap in contact despite express requests to cease calling.
Several reports mention that attempts to call back 03 9022 9289 result in an Optus announcement stating the number is disconnected - a tactic used by scammers to prevent victims from verifying the organisation's identity or lodging complaints directly with the caller.
What to Do If You Receive a Call from 03 9022 9289
If 03 9022 9289 calls you:
- Do not: Confirm you have solar systems, health insurance, or any other product/service; provide personal or financial details; agree to any sales pitch; or return a call if it goes to voicemail
- Do: Decline politely but firmly, state you do not wish to be contacted again, hang up immediately, and block the number on your phone
- Be aware: If blocked, the same caller may contact you from a different 039022 number; keep declining and blocking all calls from this exchange if the pattern continues
- Do not assume: That a call is legitimate because it comes from a local Victorian area code (03) - scammers routinely spoof local numbers
Callback Risks with 03 9022 9289
Multiple contributors have noted that calling back 03 9022 9289 connects to an Optus message stating the number is disconnected. Do not rely on this as confirmation the caller is legitimate - disconnected voicemail numbers are a common scam tactic to prevent call-backs and complaints. If you wish to verify the organisation, contact them directly using a phone number from their official website, never using a number the caller provided.

What Our Users Reviewed
They wanted to know if I had a solar electrical system. Then they wanted to ask what brand I had and kept pushing to get me to commit to replace this system. I told them NO! And to not contact me again - which they did using a different number, (02)83957137 and this time the admitted they had contacted me but they were offering health insurance!
Didn't answer, called back and the phone number isn't connected - SCAM.
Reported and blocked.
Must be a scammer, when you call it’s back it’s says Optus advises this number has been disconnected. Block, delete, repeat!
Always calling on different 039022 numbers. I have told them not to call but they still do. Its scammers.

WRITE A REVIEWFrequently Asked Questions
I received a call from 03 9022 9289 about solar systems. Should I call back?
No. Do not call back 03 9022 9289. Contributors report that calling back results in an Optus 'disconnected' message, which is a common scam tactic. If you wish to verify whether a legitimate solar company is contacting you, use the phone number on their official website, never a number the caller provided. The pattern of 0390229289 ignoring 'do not call' requests suggests this is not a trustworthy organisation.
Why do callers from 0390229289 keep using different numbers?
Contributors report that after being blocked on 03 9022 9289, the same caller contacted them from a different 039022 number (and even a 02 number with a different pitch). This is deliberate avoidance of blocks. Scammers routinely cycle through similar numbers in the same exchange to re-contact people who have already declined. Each time you block a number, they ring from another.
A caller from 03 9022 9289 switched from selling solar to health insurance. Is this normal?
No. A legitimate company focuses on one product. One contributor reported that 03 9022 9289 initially pitched solar systems, but when they said no and requested not to be called again, the caller rang back from a different number (02 8395 7137) and suddenly offered health insurance. This tactic - changing pitch and using multiple numbers after being rejected - is a hallmark of scam operations cycling through sales angles to find something the victim will accept.
Should I answer calls from 03 9022 9289 to tell them to stop calling?
You can, but it may not stop them. Contributors who explicitly told callers from 0390229289 not to contact them again report that the organisation continued calling from different 039022 numbers. A brief decline and immediate hang-up is safest. Do not engage in conversation or provide any information. Then block the number, register with the Do Not Call Register (donotcall.gov.au), and report to ACMA (acma.gov.au).
What should I do if I already gave information to a caller from 03 9022 9289?
If you shared personal details (name, address, phone, email, financial information), monitor your accounts for suspicious activity and consider reporting the breach. Lodge a report with Scamwatch (scamwatch.gov.au) and ACMA (acma.gov.au), mentioning 03 9022 9289 and any other 039022 numbers that contacted you. If you authorised a transaction, contact your bank or credit provider immediately to reverse it or dispute the charge.
Is 03 9022 9289 a real Optus phone number?
03 9022 9289 (0390229289) is allocated to a VIC-based local service provider, but this does not mean the caller is legitimate. Contributors report that calling back 03 9022 9289 reaches an Optus 'disconnected' message - a tactic used by scammers to prevent verification. Scammers can spoof or rent local numbers. Never trust a number based on its area code (03). If you suspect a scam, verify independently using official contact details from the organisation's website.
