I received a text message followed by another one stating that they had sent me an SMS on May 7, 2025, regarding a payment they claim I owe for an account ending in 228. They urged me to call them at 1300 362 409 and reference the code: ab71267e1b8833df. If I had already acted on it, they suggested I ignore the message.
This phone number actually belongs to Westpac Bank, as confirmed by my daughter who is employed there. They are a legitimate source, and they verified my details without me needing to provide any codes that were sent to my text messages or emails.
