(08) 8299 6139 - 0882996139: Suspicious Telemarketing Claims to be AGL

Just had a dodgy call from this number claiming to be AGL, trying to offer me some so-called "savings" since I'm such a 'valued customer.' When I said I wasn't interested, the lady just said "Ok thank you Bye." Definitely a scam, not falling for it!

So this number gave me a missed call, but it didn’t even ring or show up in my call log. Just a dodgy notification. Yup, total scam!

Over the last 2 days August 27 & 28,2025) have had four calls from 08 8299 6139 but the phone doesn't ring, just goes to voicemail saying we have missed calls. Calling voicemail there is no message. I phoned 08 8299 6139 and had contact with an operator requesting AGL account number and details. Declined the offer and hung up.

This number has been calling me daily between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM without fail. Their persistence is quite annoying.

I'm being harassed by a group and they just used this number.

This is an Indian scam call! There seems to be a widespread issue with scammers operating out of India, and the country needs to take responsibility and crack down on these fraudulent practices.

I contacted AGL, but they claimed it wasn't them calling. However, when I called the original number back, the automated message identified it as AGL, which is confusing.

I played around with the caller for a long time while I was watching YouTube and kept pretending to "forget my address" until he eventually hung up. The call lasted over an hour, but I only contributed about 16 minutes of talking.

When I answered the call, I was subjected to hold music with an automated message stating that the operators would be available soon. This felt strange since they were the ones that called me.

This number belongs to AGL, which is trying to sign up customers for their internet and mobile services. After getting several missed calls without any messages, I called the number back and confirmed that it is AGL. It’s not a scam; it's simply telemarketing.

I experienced the same situation with this number, and I confirmed that it is not affiliated with AGL. It seems like this number might be spoofed, as both my Samsung phone and my Telstra service flagged it as spam.

I was contacted by someone claiming to be from AGL. They knew personal information about me, including my name and the products I have with the company. They attempted to sell me internet and mobile plans. When I expressed that I wasn’t interested, they quickly hung up. I contacted AGL to verify, and they confirmed that this call was not legitimate. I have since blocked the number.

I receive calls from this number every day at 1 PM, even after I blocked it. The calls are silent, and they leave no voicemail. I have missed several calls and was advised to dial 159 to opt out. When I called the number back, it sounded like AGL (Australian Gas Light Company), but I hung up because I had no reason to communicate with them. I am with Optus, and based on other reports on this site, I suspect they might have obtained my information when Optus was hacked.

I contacted the AGL customer service number to verify whether they had called me. They informed me that they never made the call, which leads me to believe that this was likely a scam.

Pushy Indian caller. Said from AGL - liar.

The caller claimed to be from AGL, but I believe it is a scam as they were not actually from the company. I recommend hanging up immediately on any pushy telemarketers like this one.

I received a call after 5 PM on 7/3/23 which I did not answer. The caller did not leave a message. This could potentially be related to the Optus data breach since I was a customer several years ago. I have since blocked the number.
