What Our Users Reviewed
I received a call claiming that my phone number had been randomly selected to win a free smartphone. This seems to be a new scam, especially with the holiday season approaching. Interestingly, I'm already on the do-not-call list and this is the second time I’ve received a similar call, this time from a different number. Both calls were from individuals with Indian accents promoting free phones.
An email arrived that appeared to be from PayPal, stating that I had been billed $499.99 for a service from Norton Research Inc. Since I don't own a computer, I am certain this is a scam attempt.
This number called me regarding a scam. Additionally, shortly after this call, I received a fake invoice from McAfee that included this same number, further indicating it is associated with suspicious activity.
Just got a call from 08 8121 8488 saying it was PayPal and that my card would be charged $199 for coles gift cards. I called the number and an Asian guy answered. He asked for my name - I only have him my first name and he verified my account with it??? SCAM!
Had a call from this number. Said it was PayPal asking if we'd authorised a $149.99 payment for a Coles gift card. We don't have a PayPal account. He then tried to convince us to talk to accounts dept to cancel the payment.
Scam number. Said something about iTunes gift vouchers and eBay. I have never used either so hung up.
I received what sounded like a scam call from this number today 20.11.19. It was a recorded message suggesting that my credit card was going to be charged with $199 for an iTunes gift card or iTunes credit if I didn't call the number back. I just hung up.
Greeted with automated call 'This is eBay. Your credit card will shortly be charged $199.99 for purchase of iTunes gift cards. Call 1900 SCAMMERS if you do not wish this to proceed" I instead rang 0881218488 and they also said they are from eBay - but eBay confirm they have no such service number, and will never make an unsolicited call, but will email instead.
