WRITE A REVIEWFrequently Asked Questions
Why did the caller from 08 7002 1859 know my name when they called back?
The contributor who reported 08 7002 1859 noted that the caller knew their name immediately, suggesting their phone number was sourced from a purchased or compiled contact list that includes personal details. This is common in telemarketing operations that purchase lead databases containing names, phone numbers, and sometimes addresses. The fact that 0870021859 connected instantly when called back indicates a live call centre operation actively working through these lists.
Is 08 7002 1859 a scam or just aggressive sales?
Based on the single report, 08 7002 1859 appears to be unsolicited telemarketing rather than a financial scam. The caller was promoting solar and battery sales. However, the robocall format and repeated callback attempt within 10 minutes are aggressive tactics. The contributor's description of 0870021859 possibly operating from overseas raises questions about compliance with Australian telemarketing regulations. It's still worth reporting to ACMA.
What is a robocall and why did 08 7002 1859 use one?
A robocall is an automated phone call that plays a recorded message rather than connecting you to a live person immediately. The contributor who received the call from 08 7002 1859 (0870021859) heard no intelligible voice message, just call centre background noise, which is typical of robocall systems. Sales organisations use robocalls to quickly dial large numbers of people, then route positive responses to live agents.
Why did they call back so quickly after the voicemail from 08 7002 1859?
The rapid callback 10 minutes after the initial robocall message from 08 7002 1859 suggests an automated system monitoring which calls were answered and which went to voicemail. When 0870021859 detected the voicemail was left, the system likely triggered an immediate callback to attempt live contact. This is a coordinated tactic to increase connection rates with recipients.
Should I call 08 7002 1859 back to ask them to stop calling?
The contributor who called back 0870021859 to identify the caller was immediately connected to an operator ready to pitch. Calling back provides the sales team confirmation that your number is active and monitored, which may encourage more calls. Instead, block 08 7002 1859 directly, register with the Do Not Call Register, and report the number to ACMA.
How can I stop calls from 08 7002 1859 in the future?
Register your number with Australia's Do Not Call Register at donotcall.gov.au if you haven't already. Once registered, telemarketers including 08 7002 1859 (0870021859) must not call you. Block the number in your phone's settings immediately. If calls from this number continue after Do Not Call Register registration, report the breach to ACMA at acma.gov.au. Keep records of call dates and times for your complaint.
