Let’s explore why this number should raise red flags and how you can deal with such scams effectively.
What Type of Scam Is It?

Identifying the Signs of a Scam
- Automated Messages: The calls are primarily automated, lacking genuine human contact.
- Threatening Language: Scammers use intimidating tactics such as threats of arrest or legal actions to frighten recipients.

- Fake Identification: Many reports highlight that the scammers claim to be from the ATO or even the Australian Federal Police, further establishing a façade of legitimacy.
How to Deal with Scammers
If you encounter a call from this number, the recommended approach includes the following steps:
- Do Not Engage: Avoid responding or providing any personal information over the phone.
- Verify Independently: If you are ever concerned about your tax status, contact the ATO directly using their official contact information from their official website or documentation.
- Report the Scam: Use resources like Reverseau or other scam reporting platforms to report the number and warn others about it.

I have received a missed call from number 08 6102 5104 at 8:40am AEST. Female caller has left a voicemail message which sounded like a recorded message not an actual person.
The message left was "Call us on 08 6102 5104, I repeat call us on 08 6102 5104, this is final warning". Final warning to what? Rang number back at different times to see who it was and got the same outcome - it rang once, then heard a couple of beeping noise then call cut-off.
I checked the number on True Caller and it came up with Australian Taxation Office! ATO should investigate this as their name is being tagged on what looks like a scam phone number, unless ATO now leaves these type of messages (which I highly doubt!).
