Based on multiple user reports, this number is linked to scam telemarketers who aggressively promote misleading electricity discounts. Types of Calls Reported
Many users reported that when they answered, there was an initial silence or they heard strange sounds before an operator would engage. They've also described the interaction with the callers—often portraying themselves in different roles, such as an electricity discounts provider— claiming they could help secure better rates, which are issued under dubious pretenses.
- Telemarketing Strategy: The calls a lot of individuals receive are indicative of typical telemarketing tactics. It appears that once a person answers, they might have their details harvested by being placed on a list for future marketing purposes.
- Increased Frequency: Callers have mentioned the number calling persistently, often leaving no voicemail. This behaviour is a significant red flag, as legitimate businesses usually provide time for message left or follow through with follow-up communications.

Received a call from 0743980407 at 11:00am 20/12/17. I note this call has also a missed call on my number from two days ago so they are persistant. On this latest call there was silence at the other end then noises and a click and an asian woman said, "Hello is that David ?" I asked "Who is calling ?" She replied "Best Deals, are you the one who pays the Electricity Bills ?" Straight out invasion of privacy. I asked, "Where did you get my number, I will report this call" She rang off.
What with all the Indians calling supposedly from Telstra and telling me I have a virus on my computer, I guess this is one more nuisance we have to put up with but if Telstra is to blame for this by allocating blocks of numbers to Telemarketeers then Government Regulation should be there to stamp this out.
Caller never leaves a message, which is always a 'Red Flag' for me.
Recently placed advertisements with facebook, Gumtree and eBay. I bet that's where they found my number - but not certain.
Do not answer!!!

Missed call again from the same number and the recorded message said the number was disconnected.
Got a call today just after 5pm. After answering I heard a beep which transferred the call to a operator who sounded like an Indian woman. She said she was from “power savers” and from then I hung up.
An Indian sounding woman called today introducing herself as Catherine, making it sound like she’s managing my electricity bills with new discount rates. When asked if it was a telemarketing call, she said no. She sounded irritated when I refused to answer her questions then told me I had nothing to worry about, she just wanted to help me get the best deal.
Received a call from this number and was initially silent, then an Indian sounding man started telling me what discount I should be getting on my electricity and that I'm not obligated to do anything with this call... Sounded suspicious, so I said that it wasn't a good time to speak. He started hassling me on when he could call back and hung up on me when I said not to.
Calls me every day - don't want it, don't need it!
Tried calling me at 1130 hrs. If you want to blame anyone look no further than Telstra. They sell or lease, lots of numbers out to companies whether legit or not. It's a marketing ploy. If you answer a call with a greeting, yes they hang up but your number gets put onto a list for potencial telesales companies all over Australia and unfortunaely India. So much for privacy laws. Just register with '[link] and when you get a call from a telemarketer tell them your on the do not call register and they have to let you go but you must be registered to do this. It's 100% free.
Yep, just receive a call from this number followed by silence and no response.
Weird delay and no speech - I hung up!
I received a call twice from this number too and when I said hello the first time it hung up straight away and then the second time they called I just accepyed the call and didn't say anything and it didn't hang up on me until I hing up on it. Might be a scam.
When I answered it sounded like a telemarketer and then I said Hello and they hung up. I tried to return the call and it advised the number wasn't connected... I think this could be a scam!!!!
