    Called our workplace saying she was calling from OBC, but then said she was calling about the Telstra account, when I asked about her relationship to Telstra, she hung up.

    My work gets calls from this number but you can't dial them back, funnily enough.

    The first calls were from a Maggie Dickens who said she was from "OBC" and asked for our Manager. When I asked what the call was about she refused to divulge any details and so I told her she cannot speak with him. She of course rudely and abruptly ended the call.

    Then someone named Sarah called from the SAME NUMBER asking to speak to the manager about our Telstra account. When she too refused to divulge any details, I told her she couldn't speak with him. She told me she would then ring our Manager on his mobile and again rudely and abruptly hung up.

    Where do these people get off? Complete waste of human life.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
