Got a call from them today. Saying I have won a free iPhone for being a great customer with Telstra. And will get free calls and texes for $35 a month. Im on pre-paid. Don't like plans. Oh he can give me a sim card instead. Mmm no thanks. I prefer this in writing than over the phone deals. Not interested.
Got a missed call from this number on my mobile today, they didn't leave a message. When I rang the number it just goes to engaged signal continuously. Blocked the number now.
I just got a call from this number.
They use the first 4 digits of your mobile to take a good guess at your current carrier, so in my case 0428 is an old Telstra number. They know the carrier, they know it's old and they use this in the beginning of the conversation to gain some small trust. This caller said he was offering 60% discount on what I pay currently, but then he had to ask what I pay currently. He asked if I was on prepaid or contract and if contract was it expiring soon. I said I started a 24-month contract 2 weeks ago and he promptly hung up on me.
(There's a tip.).
;-).
Had a similar call about 10 minutes ago. Caller said I was entitled to new phone as I had been a loyal customer etc etc. Wouldn't tell me which company or from where they got my number. Asked me how much I paid per month. Told him it was none of his business and I was quite happy with the phone I had and to have a nice day and I hung up. My service provider for my phone is in Queensland so I phoned them to let them know. Tried ringing 07 3088 6281 a few times but just got engaged signal.
Offering me a free Android phone because I had been a very long time customer. However, he didn't identify which company he was calling from. I hung up so as not to get caught on verbal contracts.
