I received a call from this number claiming to be a collection agency wanting to finalize my Afterpay account. However, my Afterpay balance was completely paid off a long time ago, raising concerns about the legitimacy of the call.

I received a message from someone claiming to be from St George Autofinance. I suspect it is a scam because I have a car lease expiring in the next few months, but I always deal directly with the leasing company, not with their financiers or insurers.

I received a suspicious text that I believe is a scam. It stated: "Thank you for your commitment to pay $50.00 starting 31/07/2024, continuing until the balance is paid in full for account reference: 40130170546. BPAY: Billpay Code 51987, Ref 2620 6901 0301 7054 8. DO NOT REPLY."

Even though they might be legitimate business (Debt Collector) they use the same system as scammers do. Computer generated numbers, mobile looking numbers. Why? Because they are as bad as scammers! Please read on.

They should know better how to reach to someone via fixed registered number to Their Business.

If they are too stupid, oh well good luck.

I do not reply from some random numbers Message as I do not know if it is real or not.

And as someone said before, they are phishing.

And problem is that some people still fall for it.

How could they say in massage that they're giving me discount to settle my afterpay?

First of all, I don't use afterpay.

Secondly, poor grammar.

Thirdly, Debt collectors are thieves. Maybe that should be on number 1.

Fourthly, that's what she said.

Block, do not click on any links!

Job done.

P.S.

If you all people who are reading my review still reading this part, please keep on reading.

Let me tell you who debt collectors are.

Lets say you have a debt with Telstra, as an example, $400.

On average, debt collection agencies only pay 4% of the original debt value, while they collect on the full amount. Or give you "Discount". This means debt buyers can make a HUGE profit if you pay them your full debt.

Don't be fooled,4% out of $400 is only $16!!!!

I call them "legal thieves"
