This number is associated with aggressive telemarketing tactics supposedly linked to the Mater Prize Home Lottery. From the various responses shared by users, it’s evident that this number is being used to pester individuals into purchasing lottery tickets.

Classification as Scam

Numerous reports highlight that the callers identify themselves as representatives of Mater Lotteries, attempting to sell tickets or asking recipients to buy more tickets for bonus draws. However, many users have labelled these calls as part of a scam. The essence of the scam lies in the persistent and irritating nature of their sales approach, as well as the fact that they often call from a mobile number, which is uncommon for legitimate organisations.

  • Multiple users have reported that the calls do not leave a message, suggesting a shady intent.
  • Some individuals have noted that the callers seem to have sensitive personal information, such as credit card details, raising concerns regarding privacy and security.
  • Other feedback indicates that upon inquiring about accounts or cancellations, the representatives become unhelpful or evasive.

How to Handle Calls from This Number

  • Do Not Engage: If you receive a call from this number, do not answer or engage with the caller. If you've already done so, refrain from giving any personal information.

  • Report the Conduct: Users can report these scam calls to the appropriate authorities, such as the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA), which can help in addressing the issue of harassment.
  • Be Aware of Your Donations: If you subscribe to such charities, consider managing your account online instead of over phone calls to limit unsolicited contact.

This number calls to promote purchasing extra tickets for a charity raffle. They claim that each ticket sold not only supports the charity but also increases the value of the upcoming prize. If you're not interested in buying more tickets, it's perfectly fine to just say that you've purchased all you can afford; there's no pressure!

I've been receiving calls from this number repeatedly. Each time they ring, they just hang up without saying anything. I'm really frustrated by this constant interruption!

Mater prize home lottery. Have blocked the original number I was rung on a few months ago. When talking to the lady - who was very pushy I complained that I do not respond to charities that cold call as it is an invasion of privacy. I demanded I be taken off the phone list and NOT bothered again - went quiet for 2 months but has started ringing again. Have blocked the number again. The woman stated it was the only way to raise money for the charity which I believe is bullshit given the number of times I receive emails and mail and in QLD they have spruikers in shopping centres selling tickets. Being harrassed at home is not on this is not how I want to spend my retirement listening to sob stories. I support the Mater, always have but give it a break and leave us alone!!!

I recently cancelled a membership with Mater VIP, which I was unaware I had until I contacted them. Despite the cancellation, I continue to receive daily messages from them.

This number consistently calls throughout the day, making multiple attempts to solicit money, with five calls coming in just today. They seem to add you to a call list, and then have different individuals continuously call until you finally answer. If you ignore the calls, they will just keep trying again in a few days. I believe this relates to a fraudulent lottery scheme which is incredibly inappropriate and annoying.

E

I frequently receive calls from this number, but they never leave a message. I suspect it might be a scam or just nuisance telemarketers. From what others have said, it seems to be related to Mater Home Lotteries.

Please be aware that registered charities are exempt from the Do Not Call registry, which may explain some unexpected calls.

H
Hathorn

I received a call urging me to stop calling or I would cancel my pending purchase.

P

It's important to note that the Do Not Call registry does not apply to calls from charities or market research organizations, so you may receive legitimate calls from these sources despite being on the registry.

I once purchased tickets from an organization, and ever since, they have been persistently harassing me through email and phone calls. If I block them, they just call from another number! It is really frustrating; I regret ever donating to them. I even called them to request they stop sending emails and explained how bothersome it was, but the representative aggressively tried to sell me more tickets. They seem completely tone-deaf to how annoying this is.

D

The caller identified themselves as being from Mater Lotteries. I receive calls from them once a month, and despite requesting to be removed from their list, they continue to call, which I find very annoying.

R

I've been informed that if I had previously purchased from any home lotteries, I would likely receive calls from other lotteries, as they share information among themselves. This raised my suspicion about the legitimacy of such calls.

I am officially registered on the Do Not Call list. I understand that charities are permitted to call for donations, but I'm curious if they are allowed to make calls for ticket sales.

M

I already have a monthly subscription with them, which is fine, but they continually bombard me with phone calls trying to sell additional tickets. This relentless marketing tactic is very frustrating.

L
Lowery

I received repeated calls from them stating that they ring when lotteries are running. I wish they would stop calling, as I have more important things to do and constant disruptions might make me decide to stop buying tickets altogether.

S

I am really frustrated with receiving these calls, especially since I have already unsubscribed from all their texts and emails. It seems that once they have your details, they never stop contacting you!

G

As a VIP member, I receive calls every week trying to sell me additional tickets for their bonus draw. I plan to block this number since my requests to remove me from their call list have gone unanswered.

It’s a daily routine now!! Everyday at 12:45 I get a call from Maters.

Did not answer. No message left.

There’s a reason why I buy my tickets online and it’s not to have my donations going to call centre staff making endless calls.

Stop calling please!!

I am receiving constant emails along with phone calls from this sender. I have set the emails to go to my junk folder and have blocked the calls.

I didn't answer and they didn't leave a message. Have read on sites this is a number for Mater Tickets but I think it's a scam. I did have an account with Mater for a while but I cancelled when they spent the equivalent of my donation on texts and phone calls to ask me to buy more. Bad sales practice by the Mater. BUT when the Mater contacted me my phone came up with Mater instead of phone number. This one doesn't, so it may be a scammer using the Mater's well-known bad sales tactics to fool us.

A person received a call from this number but did not answer as they did not recognize the caller. After reading comments from others, which provided additional context, they decided to block the number despite being a regular Mater lotteries ticket purchaser.

I let my Pixel 7 screen calls from numbers I've never dealt with to get rid of spammers, scammers and telemarketers, which is fantastic. So I didn't know who this number belonged to (they hung up after my phone asked them to say who was calling). But others say the number is Mater lotteries, which makes sense because I bought some tickets in their prize home last week and I've heard they are pretty aggressive trying to get people to buy more.

I have been continuously pestered by calls while trying to purchase tickets from Mater Lotteries. These experiences are making me question whether anyone actually wins their lotteries.

M

I received a call from this number, and while I'm generally willing to help, I'm getting increasingly frustrated with their persistent attempts to sell me additional services.

M

I'm receiving calls that are driving me crazy, even though I already subscribe to their services and have purchased tickets!

B

I received a call from this number but chose not to answer it. I've decided to block them to avoid further contact.

M

I keep getting phone calls from Mater Lotteries, and I've already blocked at least three of their numbers. Despite this, they continue to call me every day around the same time from different numbers, which is very frustrating.

I received a call from someone claiming to represent the Mater Lottery. I suspect this is a scam, so it's best not to answer such calls.

D

I received a call on a Saturday morning. This year, the volume of similar calls has been overwhelming, and I am seriously considering changing my phone number due to this issue.

E

I received a call from this number, but they did not leave a message. After researching, I found out that it is associated with Mater Raffles, and I can confirm they are quite bothersome!

Mater Lotteries asking if I wanted to join a bonus raffle. I said no and they did not seem to hassle me but it still does not seem legit coming from a mobile number. Mater lotteries usually send an email and not call. So to receive a phone call asking for more money after I already bought tickets from the legit site seems dodgy.

K
Krishnan

I am already a member of their service, but I received a call at 8 PM asking me to purchase an extra ticket. I am now seriously considering canceling my membership due to this unwanted solicitation.

P

I was contacted by someone purporting to be from Mater Lotteries, asking me to buy more tickets for a bonus draw. This seems suspicious, especially since the call came from a mobile number. It’s best not to share any personal details.

This is a bit weird but I just revived two call one immediately after the other from this number. I did not answer but my partner who I talk to several times a day via ph had missed calls from my number including my WhatsApp at the same time, I didn’t ring him?

G

I called back a number that showed no caller ID to voice my complaint about their spam calls. The person on the line asked for my details so they could remove me from their list. I expressed my disbelief, saying it would only result in more calls. He seemed to be at a loss for words, so I hung up and blocked that number, at least for now.

As a VIP member, I already have a direct debit setup for purchasing raffle tickets, yet I keep receiving calls pushing for me to buy more. I am extremely frustrated and intend to cancel my membership.

They rung me and told its a Mater Prize Lottery. Asking me to make purchase, telling me about the new prize is on.. They want me to buy tickets before it closed, using my saved debit card.I’ve asked them why calling from mobile number(checking why private number) he told me its the computer system telling them contact the person. And I tried to ask him if he can help me with my account and he can't even response to it. I told him I can't even login to it. So better send me email. Ive waited no emails. They know your card number so be aware. They try to scam you.
