OTP Verification and Robocall Scam Reports for 0480 857 401

Two contributors have flagged 0480 857 401 (also written as 0480857401) for suspicious activity involving one-time password (OTP) interception attempts combined with robocall tactics. The pattern indicates coordinated scam behaviour using multiple contact channels to compromise accounts or extract sensitive information.

One contributor received a WhatsApp verification code via SMS alongside a voicemail message instructing them to "press B" - a classic robocall-recorded-message tactic designed to trigger account verification or confirm the number is active. The other report documents persistent repeated calls from 0480 857 401, escalating to harassment levels.

What Callers from 0480 857 401 Are Using

Reports about 0480 857 401 reveal a multi-channel attack approach. A contributor described receiving an unsolicited WhatsApp code as an SMS text, followed immediately by a voicemail with an automated recorded message saying "press B". This combination strongly suggests scammers attempting to verify or take over an existing account.

The robocall component from 0480857401 appears designed to elicit a response that confirms the number is monitored by a person, making it a target for further fraud attempts. The contributor took appropriate action by not engaging - the voicemail and code were deleted and the number blocked without delay.

A separate report about 0480 857 401 documents frequency-based harassment, with the caller attempting multiple times without leaving legitimate voicemail messages. This pattern of calling "way too many times" suggests the number may be on an automated dialling list or being used by someone deliberately testing for vulnerable targets.

Report Patterns and Timing

The two community reports for 0480 857 401 span different timeframes and harassment methods. One incident occurred in September 2026 involving the coordinated SMS/voicemail/robocall approach. An earlier report from July 2026 focused on repeated call attempts without proper identification or messages.

Both reports share a common theme: the caller does not establish legitimate identity or provide genuine contact reason. Contributors report 0480857401 appearing as a standard phone call initially, with suspicious behaviour only becoming clear after the voicemail or repeated attempts.

I don't answer calls from unknown contacts and if they don't leave a proper or any voicemail message I usually block them. This number came up as a normal phone call, A "what's app" code appeared as a text and a voicemail that said press "B". All those got deleted and /or blocked without haste.
