So I answered this call, right? And guess what? Not a peep from the caller – just dead air before they hung up. Classic scam move if you ask me, and I've been bombarded by about a hundred similar calls. Definitely not falling for it!
I received a call in morning whilst half asleep when I answered a lady with a strong Indian accent who knew me by my first name so I thought it must be important, I asked what the call was in regards to she said current electricity bill, which didn’t register right away with me as I had recently woke up, I thought she’d said phone bill, I thought oh crap it’s late or there’s an issue, I was trying to get her to get to the point but she was being vague stretching it out sounded like she was leading me into sales pitch that’s when I woke up, it’s a public holiday Kings BDay weekend and those utility offices are closed on these days, it’s Monday also currently living at parents house my name isn’t on any current electricity bills as the owner, it’s a scammer, also having seen a show a white hat hacker did about scammers from overseas calling you if they keep you on phone and recording your voice for over a minute they can use it with AI for identity theft purposes I hung up. Be careful.
