Just received a text this morning:
It was telling me that a new payee has been registered to my online banking and if I did not regcognise this to follow this link. Well lucky I am NOT stupid. I went on computer and logged on to my bank to check. Guess what? No new payee has been added. So don't follow the link they had my correct bank but I went on the computer and checked.
The caller, claiming to be my mother, informed me that she had accidentally damaged her phone and urgently requested that I contact her via WhatsApp using this new number: 0493 402 122.
"Hi mum ive smashed my phone. Can you whatsapp my new number (0485-838-243) x, it is urgent please"
Ha ha ha as if I'm going to fall for this scam.....

I received a text saying, "Hi mum, I've smashed my phone. Can you WhatsApp me? Here's my new number 0485 855 506. It is urgent please." I found this suspicious and promptly blocked the number.
