    The owner of phone number is a scammer who responds to Gumtree wanted ads with driver license id. I suspect that the Id's are stolen. Likes to use text messages and sends photos of the item that you are looking to buy. He is very convincing but don't be fooled.

    Typical Gumtree wanted ad scam. Will send you a message on Gumtree with his mobile number. You then engage in an SMS/phone exchange where he tells you he has the items you're looking for and will send you pictures. He will claim to be unreachable due to a remote location or too busy with work and therefore a courier is the only option. You pay online and never see the items.

    This person sent SMS responding to a Gumtree advert I posted for "wanted to buy' saying they had the items I was looking for but providing no details of the items and being very limited in their response _ I'm assuming they are a scammer. Saying they are from Pambula.

    Guy is a scammer, uses other people's identities/drivers license photos then you get nothing. If shown a drivers license, message the name on Facebook for verification.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
