Understanding the Risks of 0468 885 625

The phone number 0468 885 625 has emerged as a concerning contact for individuals across Australian suburbs, particularly in Sutherland Shire and Bayside Council. Reports from users overwhelmingly indicate that this number is linked to locksmith scammers engaging in deceptive practices.

What Makes 0468 885 625 / 0468885625 Suspicious?

Users have described encountering unsolicited locksmith stickers bearing this phone number plastered around their letterboxes, doors, and even residential buildings. A significant red flag that this number belongs to dubious operators is the absence of any credible business information such as a website, business name, or an Australian Business Number (ABN). This lack of transparency raises concerns about the legitimacy of their services.

Modus Operandi of the Scammers

The main tactic employed by these locksmith scammers appears to involve creating a false sense of urgency. Potential victims might be attracted by the promise of quick, cheap locksmith services, only to find themselves at risk of being locked out and needing assistance. Unfortunately, what often happens is that these “locksmiths” may not only fail to provide legitimate services but may also make duplicate keys for themselves. This puts homeowners at risk of burglary, as they might return at a later date to exploit the gained access into properties.

Advice for Victims and How to Handle Calls from This Number

  • Do not engage with or call back this number if you receive a call.
  • Do not provide any personal information or service details.
  • Consider reporting suspicious activity to local authorities or consumer protection agencies.
  • If you require a locksmith, always opt for a verified and licensed service, referring to reviews and established business websites.
  • You can use services like Reverseau for a reverse phone lookup to check the legitimacy of unknown numbers.

It’s crucial for Australians to remain vigilant against such scams. Investing some time in research and verification can save you from potential fraud and security issues. Trustworthy locksmiths typically display their information openly, ensuring customers know exactly who they are dealing with. Protecting yourself means knowing how to identify the signs of a scam.

Dodgy “locksmiths” plastering their little white stickers with this phone number on it all over Bayside Council and surrounds, including INSIDE residential buildings. No business name, no website, no ABN, probably no licence. Do yourself a favour and avoid these clowns.

This is a total scam. There are stickers promoting this service plastered all over Sydney’s south, but they are constantly removed by frustrated residents only to appear again a few weeks later. There is no business name listed and no means of contact, which suggests that they likely operate without a proper license. Always call a legitimate locksmith who will not hesitate to provide their license number upon request.

This is definitely a scam. The individuals pretending to be locksmiths are not qualified and lack proper credentials. They do not follow the required registration processes. It's best to contact a licensed locksmith and ask for proof of their registration instead of dealing with these untrustworthy people who put up stickers all over Sydney claiming they have teams everywhere.

Locksmith scammers. No website, no name no address but they leave these lock smith stickers in letterboxes around Sutherland shire every few weeks. They keep sticking their stickers TO OUR DOORS and our letterboxes. What they do is help you with your lock and create a key for themself and rob you!

Stickers with "Locksmith" and this number were placed on the inside of the front door of our unit complex. At the same time our front door lock was tampered with to prevent it from locking. Seems very dodgy.
