Like one other intended victim here, I received 2 sms messages from “Apple” indicating an attempt to reset and provided a 6 digit code, followed by a very dodgy robot mobile phone call from 0457 502 322, posing as a teleprompt to confirm if I intended to reset my Apple ID from Novosibirsk. Now, the “British Accent Scammer” (look it up) for real rang me months ago and so I learned from that it is possible for scammers to not only spoof mobile phone numbers but also spoof sms messages to appear in the exact thread from a legit institution (the poor guy who went on the news about it lost over 100k - it is vital viewing). Therefore, given the obvious red flags, the only thing to do was to hang up immediately. I have no idea what would happen if I pressed #1 or #2 and I hope nobody does.
