A person with this number successfully hijacked my Telstra account today and tried to purchase another phone and deal in my name. I was able to intercept this and stop it but it was very close. This number belongs to a scammer. I had similar experiences as others who posted here about having a foreign person call pretending to be from Telstra and asking for identification information.
They called me and claimed they are from telstra, someone with a very weird accent, wanted to confirm my details about my telstra account and said my account is under maintenance for the next 24 hours but I hung up,
Said they were from Telstra and already had my account details. They asked for my name for verification purposes. When I told them, they asked me to spell it.
I then hung up.
If they already had the information, they would not need me to spell it.
Someone saying they’re from Telstra, asked for full name, date of birth and identification details; licence or passport number.
Foreign accent saying they are from Telstra technical department. He said something that made it obvious he was not from Testra.
